Ask Juno: Gifts For Your Significant Other

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

I was wondering what could be special ideas or small things to do for one’s significant other? I would like to be thoughtful and give them small things and such, but often things don’t really just pop into my mind or it’s hard to come up with something because I come up blank! Sure, I could always do flowers and chocolate but how about something a little bit more out there? What do you think would be nice gestures?

– Confused Girlfriend

I believe that a nice gift can be anything that reminds you of a special moment you’ve shared with your significant other. It could be something that you look at it and it evokes a fond memory of you together! If that doesn’t work for you because you overthink things, you can also make something from scratch like soap, a snow globe, a scrub, matching bracelets, etc… Something meaningful can be a scrapbook of pictures you have with them, movie tickets, flowers (if you save them), or other similar things. Also, think of the stuff your s/o likes, for example, if your partner likes drawing or painting, you can give them a drawing notebook, or an art set. Be thoughtful. Be creative. DIY. Think of the tiny details. In the end, with any small detail you give to your significant other, it will make them happy because it came from you. Remember, sometimes the gift isn’t really about the gift, it’s the gesture that counts.

Below, I’ve outlined some ideas for you.
