The 8 Easiest (But Thoughtful!) Gifts for Galentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UPR chapter.

Not all of us are familiar with Galentine’s day, but for us single people (and even those of you in relationships!), this is the holiday to celebrate on February 13. To put it simply, it’s the day to celebrate the amazing friendships in your life. If you’re wondering what to get your friend during the season of love and friendship, here are 8 fun and heartfelt gift ideas for Galentine’s Day.

Chocolates

This is an oldie but it’s definitely a classic! Chocolate can boost serotonin levels which is just what you need sometimes. Something you can change up depending on your friend’s preference. They can be dark, milk or white chocolates; with nuts, caramel, fruits… You name it. The possibilities are endless! They’re a delicious, fun and sweet gift. You can treat your friends to fancy chocolates or gift them copious amounts of their faves!

Mugs

Mugs have become an object of self expression, not just something people use to drink their favorite beverages in. Everyone loves mugs, whether it be to drink some coffee or a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. I personally love mugs and enjoy collecting every  single interesting one I can find. They’re a fun way to spice up your morning (or any part of the day, really). Customize the mug with your own lovely design or get them a cute ghost, marshmallow, early bird, or cat mug.

Books

Being the bookworm I am, I love to recommend and give out books as gifts, and, so far, it’s been a huge success. I give the books to my friends, and then they talk about them with me. It’s also a great way to get more people to read amazing books that absolutely deserve to be read. One good book that everyone seems to be enjoying is The Testaments by Margaret Atwood, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale.

Personalized Art

What a better way to tell your friend that you love them than with a personalized piece of art? It’s an absolutely unique thing that no other person in the world will have. Some Etsy shops like ZuriArtsyCraftsy and ImpressionsWithLove sell personalized quirky art. You could always ask a local artist to do a piece for you and buying (buying from them will also be a great way to support local artists).

A Plant

Help your friend hop on the trend of becoming a plant parent. That will help them develop a sense of responsibility because they’ll be taking care of something other than themselves. Plants also look beautiful and they can actually help you breathe and feel better. Curate a careful composition of lovely succulents and you’re good to go!

Candles

Candles make places smell great. I like having some lit candles all throughout my house, especially if they’re seasonal because they help me get in the mood for this holiday (or any holiday really, depending on the candle’s scent!). You could go for the classic candle and book pairing. To get some ideas, consult 5 Candle & Book Mash-Ups Will Keep You Cozy All Autumn.

A Cozy Hoodie

Hoodies are ideal to keep yourself warm and to express your liking of any fandom or university. They’re also a great way to make a friend think of you and your friends whenever they wear it. Some cozy classics are the cropped cut off hoodie, a sherpa-lined hoodie and an oversized hoodie.

Homemade Sweets

Homemade sweets are an amazing way to show your friends that you care because you’re taking time out of your day to make something yourself. Also, homemade things are way more delicious than store-bought sweets. Some simple easy recipes are a classic vegan carrot cake, white chocolate, tahini and pretzel cookies, ultimate chocolate fudge cake and easy cinnamon buns.

These are great ways to make a friend happy this Galentine’s Day. However, make sure you also spend some time with them, because what matters the most is your friendship and how much you care about them. Happy Galentine’s Day!
