International Women’s Day just passed which means its March, which is Women’s Month. So many great women helped to bring us where we are today in being able to vote and be leaders for our community and there are an abundance of women doing amazing things even today to further help not only women, but our society as a whole. I could go on about all the women today that inspiring, but that could get a little too heavy. Instead, I’m going to highlight some women in pop-culture that are doing I admire—even though they may be fiction.

Comic/Movie (DC): Harley Quinn (Post Joker)- She’s not necessarily good or bad, she’s kind of just doing her own thing. I find that type of attitude inspiring, not to mention she’s friends with a powerful group of other villainesses: Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

Comic/Movie (Marvel): Captain Marvel- Carol Danvers did a lot. She kicked butt, was a certified pilot for the air force, and still managed to be a feminist icon without a love interest. Even the Marvel movies revolving around men like Thor and Iron Man had love interests.

TV Show: Prudence (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina)- Prudence may seem like an odd choice considering how great both Rosalind and Sabrina are, but honestly Sabrina annoys me just a little and I like how dark Prudence is while still being HBIC of the School of Night. She sticks true to who she is and evolves into a likeable character who while likes to torment others from time to time is still on the side for greater good.

Book: Aelin Galathynius (Throne of Glass)- She is one of my favorite book characters because at the start of the series she was eighteen and by the end she was twenty which makes her feel more relatable. She didn’t let anyone tell her anything, she did her own thing with style and sass plus everything she did was save the people of her world in a selfish but selfless manor.
