Even though I am only in my second semester of my sophomore year, I feel like I have learned a lot about myself and how life works in the past two years. So here’s what I have learned and maybe you can keep these in mind.
-
You gain more independence when in college: Once you graduate high school and start your first year, there is no one there to tell you what you can and cannot do. It is now up to you to make your own decisions and get things done efficiently on your time.
-
Money always matters: In college you learn how to understand that money doesn’t grow on trees. Spending money in college can be the hardest part while on campus. Even though money needs to be used for things like textbooks and rent, we still tend to spend it on things that are unimportant.
-
Your friends in college will remain your friends for life: After graduation, you think you’re going to remain friends with the people you met in high school. In some cases it can happen, but in other cases it’s not possible. The friends you make in college will start to build a bond with you the second you meet them. Once that bond starts, the friendships can last a lifetime.
-
College is a time for experiences: After you graduate from college, you don’t want to look back and say that all you did was study. It’s always good to get yourself involved and put yourself out there. Whether it means getting involved in extracurriculars or hanging out with friends at “Instagram-worthy” spots, it’ll be nice for you to get out once in a while.
-
Finding yourself: People say that they already know who they are and what they want in life. Others still don’t know a lot about themselves and what makes them special; college is definitely the place for that. One of the best parts about college is that you can discover a lot more about yourself. As the years go on, you might surprise yourself.
