Self-Love During Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

If you are single or in a long distance relationship, I know that you are dreading the next holiday coming up: Valentine’s Day. This day is usually spent proclaiming your undying love for your significant other. But what do you do when you do not have one to enjoy this day with? Here’s a list of things that will keep you busy during this day!

Game Night. You do not have to be alone! Invite your friends over, have some drinks and food and play games all night. Eventually you all will forget it was even a “holiday” because you were enjoying each others company.

Movie Night. Well, if you’re an imaginative person you can watch a romantic movie and put yourself in the womans (or mans) shoes. Live your life through them for that hour and a half. Don’t let anyone tell you that that’s a crazy idea either. You deserve your fairytale ending… even if it doesn’t happen in real life.

Cooking. Are there some recipes that you saw and just haven’t gotten around to trying? Well here’s your time! Pull out the pots and pans and make a romantic dinner for one. Don’t forget to include the glass of wine *wink*.

Shopping. If you’re looking for a reason to go shopping then here you go. I’m giving you the green light. If you can’t find a new man then go find a new pair of shoes. That’s my motto. Splurge and have no regrets but if you go too far and don’t have enough money to pay your rent, PLEASE DO NOT BLAME ME.

Self Care Day. Anybody that has read anything that i’ve wrote will know that this is literally my “go-to”. Spend this day taking care of yourself. Read a book. Watch a new netflix show. Sleep. Write in your journal. Do whatever it is that makes you happy!
