LeadHER-Meet Sadie Baxter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Ever want to know who the face behind all of Her Campus UNT’s events is? Look no further—meet Sadie Baxter. Sadie has been the Events chair for one semester, and previously served as the PR chair her Junior year. Now a senior, she is taking on her final semester at UNT full force, using her skills she’s learning for her degree in Merchandising & Digital Retailing to set new goals and end her college journey on a high note.

Scotlyn- What inspired you to run for a leadership position at UNT?

Sadie- I had a passion to work with the other ladies to make the organization better. I thought that I possessed skills to be a great leader and inspire other women.

How has being in Her Campus changed your college experience?

I came to UNT as a transfer student, so without Her Campus my college experience would’ve been totally different. I can say that I’ve truly gained a sisterhood and amazing support system in the women who are members.

What challenges have you faced as a leader, and what did you do to overcome them?

While working with different people, disagreements may arise. In the middle of conflict, I have learned to be a mediator. I have learned to approach difficult situations with empathy and do my best to help others reach a common ground.

Who is your biggest influence, and why?

My biggest influence would be successful Black women all over the world. Representation is so important, and it shows you that no matter who you are or where you come from, you can achieve your dreams and then some. When I see successful Black women killing it in their industries, I feel that I can too achieve success and be an influence for another young woman.

What advice would you give ‘freshmen year you’ if you had the chance?

Go to class! Go hard now so you can chill later.

Do you think it is possible for women to achieve their dreams while competing against like-minded women?

I think that competition is healthy, but I also believe there is room for us all to succeed. We all have different dreams and different levels of success. Competing against other women in the same industry doesn’t have to limit what you can achieve. What are three words that describe you?

Funny, Resilient, and Independent

How would you like to be remembered?

I would like to be remembered as a strong woman who encouraged and uplifted other women.

What in your life has brought or given you the greatest fulfillment?

I am most fulfilled by knowing that I have overcome obstacles a few times, and I am still standing tall.
