If you have ever admired Her Campus UNT’s Instagram feed, participated in one of our giveaways, or retweeted one of our inspirational tweets, you should know that the woman behind it all is Ayron Walker. She is passionate about social media, and has worked hard to increase our traffic and following, as well as keep up with the feed theme we have worked to hard to achieve—all while writing her first screenplay, which will be produced later this semester! What inspired you to run for a leadership position at UNT?

I love being a part of something bigger than myself. This past year I joined an organization that I was really excited about being in and found out that I’m good at one of my hobbies, Social Media! It was like everything just clicked; It was a great atmosphere mixed with doing something I enjoyed. This is very important to me because when I love something I pursue it to the next level. So I decided I should branch out of my shell and go for a position on the Her Campus Executive board as the Social Media Chair.

How has being in Her Campus changed your college experience?

Her Campus has given me such a great community of inspiring and talented women! As someone who loves making friends creating personal connections with people, I’ve created so many bonds while being a member and that’s something I really value. This organization has also gifted me with amazing opportunities! Through this role as Social Media chair, I’ve gotten the chance to do some pretty amazing things and make some pretty amazing money by getting my first big girl job!

What challenges have you faced as a leader, and what did you do to overcome them?

My biggest challenge as a leader has definitely been learning how to remain positive during setbacks. It’s very important to see the silver lining and lesson is every negative situation so that you don’t dwell on the past, but focus on the future.

Who is your biggest influence and why?

My biggest influences are definitely my parents. They have done so much in order for me to be where I am today and I have no idea what I’d do without them. My biggest goal in life is to pay them back for all their hard work, so my every action is intentional. Everything I do is to create a worry-free life for them after I graduate — or even now, if possible.

What advice would you give freshmen year you if you had the chance?

Choose God and yourself first. And stop overextending yourself to make sure that others are comfortable; if someone loves and values you, you’ll know it and won’t have to force it.

What is one goal you plan on achieving this year?

I plan on finishing writing the first draft of my novel as well as finish the production of a short film!

Do you think it is possible for women to achieve their dreams with competing against like-minded women?

I think turning competition into collaboration will definitely make the process of achieving our dreams easier.

What are three words that describe you?

 Eccentric, Passionate, and Positive.

How would you like to be remembered?

I want to be remembered as someone that always puts a smile on people’s faces. Whether that be through my stories as an author and director or just a pleasant conversation.

What in your life has brought or given you the greatest fulfillment?

My greatest fulfillments are the relationships I have with my family, friends, and God.
