The Fall season is almost in full-swing; and similar the leaves around us, we each have the opportunity to change drastically. Summer is now a thing of the past, and Fall calls for a chance to reflect on where we wish to be. Ditch binge-watching Netflix or spending too much money at Starbucks. These activities often lead to isolation and overspending. This Upcoming Fall season calls for a change of these bad habits and the creation of good ones. Do something positive for yourself or those around you. In the end, it will bring so much more fulfillment to your life.

1. Reach out to a local charity: Sometimes the simplest pleasures in life are the most rewarding. Check out a local hospital, animal shelter, or food pantry to make an impact. So many people within our community go without food or even family this Thanksgiving season.

2. Join an Organization: As Collegiettes, there are more opportunities than ever to find people with the same long-term goals. Join a club or organization that pertains to your major, or one that simply interests you (such as the Squirrel Watching Club @ UNT).

3. Do the Thing You’ve Always Wanted To: We all have things in the back of our mind that we’ve always dreamed of accomplishing. Have you always wanted to try a Yoga class? Do it. How about learning how to scuba dive, or simply being more active? All of this can lead to newfound interests.

4. Invite Friends on a Weekend Getaway: Organize a fun-filled weekend somewhere outside of your everyday atmosphere. Get away from the stress of school and work, and explore interesting areas you never knew existed (such as the Bishop Arts District in Dallas).

5. Treat Yourself to Self-Acceptance: The pressure to have a “bikini body” (BTW anybody is a bikini body) is now gone. Try to look into the mirror and appreciate the body you were given. EveryBODY is beautiful and we should all admire the curves we are given.
