Fun Springtime Activities in the Denton Area

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Midterms just ended, and finals are already looming on the horizon. What better way to relax than to see what fun springtime shenanigans you can get up to in Denton County! (Please note all my recommendations are my own, and neither I nor Her Campus are sponsored by anything or one I mention.)

  1. Picnic on the Square! The lawn of the courthouse on the historic Downtown Denton Square is a lovely place to spread a blanket and eat a nice packed lunch, especially now that the weather is getting nicer.

  2. Catch some live music! In my humble opinion, Denton has one of the best local live music scenes in Texas (eat your heart out, Austin). Some notable places you can see some bands rock out and have a good meal at the same time are Killer’s Tacos, LSA Burger Co., and Hoochie’s.

  3. Go to Texas Tulips! The town of Pilot Point is just off 380 and contains the cutest farm I’ve ever seen in my life, Texas Tulips. It’s affordable and there are plenty of photo opportunities as well. It’s easy to see that Texas Tulips is a labor of love, and you’ll be happy you stopped by.

  4. Go to the farmer’s market! The Denton Community Market reopens April 6th (and will run every Saturday until November) and is celebrating their 10th year this year! All kinds of vendors come out looking to sell their quality, local goods. Bring someone along and make it a fun stop after your Saturday brunch.

  5. Take a ghost tour! Yes, I said ghost tour. The 90-minute tours run on weekends from April through November. Even if you don’t believe in ghosts, bring someone who does and enjoy the breezy spring air while they’re petrified.

Journalism major. I like dogs, poetry, and iced coffee, in that order.
