I often find myself driving to Dallas every weekend to either visit friends or family. Friends and family are not the only reason I find myself in Dallas every other weekend. I also make the drive down to Dallas to enjoy a cup of coffee from my favorite coffee shops. Some of these coffee shops are not only good for a great latte or a cute picture but also support good causes and encourage diversity.

  1. La La Land Kind Café

This coffee shop not only has great coffee and tea (I recommend the honey matcha latte) but also hires former foster kids or kids that have aged out of the foster care system.

  1. Hola Café Dallas

Jeniffer Ávila, owner and barista of Hola Café, grew up around coffee in her native country of Honduras. Ávila would help her grandmother sell coffee beans in the streets of her native country, and it is one of the factors that pushed her to open this coffee shop. Hola Café is known for its micro space and its short menu, which is helpful when you are a first-timer. My recommendation is to get an oat milk latte.

  1. White Rock Coffee

How could I forget my favorite spot in Dallas? This coffee shop has been a Dallas favorite for many years. WRC opened their first location in Lake Highlands in 2005. Since then, they have opened more locations, but the Lake Highlands location will always be my favorite as it is a five-minute drive from my family home. WRC is “Rainforest Alliance Certified which is a certification we look for in a coffee farm. Not only does this certification mean that the farmer is using superior agricultural processes, but it also means that they take care of the migrant workers.” -White Rock Coffee.

My recommendation here is the blended Adam Bomb, hot Adam Bomb, or the blended chai latte with whipped cream. WRC also has diet-friendly drinks that you can ask for.
