5 Social Media Influencers You Should Be Following

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNT chapter.

Social media is arguably the most influential media source today and we are all guilty of using it at least once a day. The thing is though, if you are not following these 5 ladies you are doing social media all wrong.

Jackie Aina

Winner of the 2018 NAACP  Image YouTuber of the Year Award, Jackie Aina, continues to play an important role in the advancement of people of color in the beauty industry. She is known for calling out brands, such as Tarte Cosmetics, on their lack of inclusivity. One of her top rated collaborations is with Artist Couture in which she created two highlighters (La Bronze and La Peach)  that complement the skin tones of melanin enriched individuals. She has over 2 million subscribers on her YouTube channel that not only appreciates her informative yet creative content, but, also her outgoing personality.

Her YouTube channel has over 1 million subscribers, while her Instagram has over 600k followers. She recently launched her collaboration with Elf Cosmetics late 2017 where she was able to create her own lip gloss (which is BOMB). Glamazontay

Glamazontay, Octavia Outlaw, is one of the most influential (yet underrated) social media influencers today. She graduated college in 2016 from University of Maryland Eastern Shore with her B.A. in Fashion Merchandising. Many gravitate towards Glamazontay because of her “no-filter” personality.  She grew her following by creating D.I.Y videos and also storytimes about the events that has happened in her life. Today, she is the owner of The Glamazontay Apparel Studio, which is an online fashion boutique she started the summer of 2017. She also has a vlog channel (Glamazontay Vlogs) on YouTube where she gets more personal and she also shows the ends and outs of running an online business. Glamazontay always reminds her subscribers that they are capable of doing anything as long as they work hard for it, that is just the type of encouragement young women need!
