Reasons to Floss Everyday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNL chapter.

We’ve all been there: the dentist tells you that you need to floss, so you do for a few days but never form the habit. Here are some reasons why forming that habit is incredibly important for your dental health.

1. Flossing does nearly half of the work in removing plaque from your teeth. Flossing allows you to reach the surfaces that brushing doesn’t!

2. Flossing prevents gum disease. I like my teeth, and I definitely don’t want to lose them to gum disease so thank goodness floss exists!

3. Reduce your risk of getting a cavity by flossing. Cavities are very likely to happen in between teeth, so the only way to prevent this is to get in between your teeth with dental floss!

4. You’ll have better breath if you floss regularly! The particles of food and bacteria that get stuck in between your teeth can cause bad breath, so flossing will prevent this from happening.

I’m no dentist, but trust me when I say you won’t regret flossing every day!
