Allow me to introduce UNL’s very own Jessica Francis. As a highly involved junior, it is almost impossible not to cross paths with Francis. From RSO’s to athletics and everything in between, it is safe to say she is just about everywhere.
For the past three years Francis has been studying hospitality, restaurant and tourism management. To add to the already extensive degree, she is double majoring in leadership development. However, academics are just part of her life as a student at UNL.
For the past five years Francis has worked at the Campus Recreation Center as a lifeguard, ID checker, office assistant and facility manager. But, why stop at that? It is only fitting that she is also a member of the Water Polo Club. Water Polo? That is right. It is one of 31 sports clubs offered in participation with UNL Campus Recreation.
As if all that were not enough, Francis recently became the Vice President of The Iron N, formerly known as Take Back Gameday. The mission of The Iron N is “to promote attendance at the University of Nebraska Athletic events, and maintain the tradition of excellence in Husker Sportsmanship by creating a unified student body across all of Husker Athletics.” More simply put, Francis said “It is a student organization that is the liaison between the athletic department and the student body with a goal of improving the environment at all athletic events.”
These are only some of the things Francis has been involved in, and yet she is still able to manage to take time for fun. Her love for Nebraska and passion for being a Husker is unmatched. People like Francis inspire all of us at UNL to show our Red! So, next time you are out and about on campus keep your eyes peeled and do not be surprised if you see Francis doing what she does best – being a Husker!
