Once you’re in college, Halloween is no longer about trick-or-treating, it’s about going out and having a good time. Along with the various Halloween parties people host, there are also events that take place on and around campus.
Halloween events such as trick-or-treating and going to parties mainly take place at night. If you’re looking for something to do before your Halloween festivities, check out the Spook-a-Robics fitness class in the Campus Rec Center on October 28th from 4-5:30 p.m. Feel free to wear a costume! The class is free and includes strength training, cardio, turbo kick, and flexibility.
Campus NightLife is hosting Husker Haunts on October 28th at the East Campus Union in the Wick Alumni Center. Students can take a shuttle bus from the City Union to the East Union starting at 7 p.m. until midnight. The activities will include hay rack rides, pumpkin decorating, roasting s’mores at a campfire, competing against friends in the Haunted Laser Pursuit and more! The best part about this event is that it’s free!
From October 28th-30th the Temple of Terror Haunted House will take place off campus, on 12th and R Street. It costs $5 and goes from 7 p.m.-11 p.m. For groups of five or more, it costs $3 per person.
With shows such as The Walking Dead, zombies have become a popular part of the Halloween culture. “Zombies, Run!”, an event sponsored by the University Program Council will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 7:30pm in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. It is free for UNL students with a valid NCard and $5.00 for faculty, staff, and the public.
If you’re too old for trick-or-treating and Halloween parties aren’t your cup of tea, attend some fun events on campus to keep the Halloween spirit alive.
