1. You come to realize that your mom and dad did it all – whether it be putting air in my tires or helping me make gigantic life decisions, college has taught me that I don’t tell them thank you enough

2. Going to class is worth it, trust me – sometimes it can be very hard to get up and go to that early morning class, but the professors notice you, and I have had more than one professor give the extra credit questions on the test out loud to the students that came to class

3. Messy room = messy life – not having my mom around to nag me about cleaning my room seemed like a great thing at first, but then it started to get out of control. I feel better and focus more when my room is at least picked up (plus, it makes a great study break)

4. Money is slippery – with my new independence, it seemed like such fun to go to Target whenever I felt like it, but be careful, you have a limited amount of money and it can really be tough when you run out.

5.  Get involved in something you love! – No matter what you enjoy, there is some organization at college that can be your outlet for your passions.
