Valentine’s Day comes with a lot of pressure and one ends up having big expectations for the day whether you admit it or not. But just because you are single, doesn’t mean you are alone! Look around, you have plenty of good friends who are available and definitely worth being your valentine! You don’t have to hide out in your bed with a pint of Ben and Jerry’s just because you are trying to avoid all the happy couples. Embrace your freedom and make the most of it while you can with your best friends. Here are just a few ideas that can make Valentine’s Day not so bad after all, so don’t let go of your big expectations just yet!

  1. Find your inner chef: This is a perfect day to stay in (if you are trying to avoid the annoying couples) and cook a nice meal with your friends. Everyone can pitch in and prepare a dish for a home cooked meal. For those of us who aren’t the Rachel Ray’s of the world, there is no need to worry because there are countless of simple but delicious recipes you can look up online.
  1. Pamper yourself: It’s always a good idea to grab a friend for a day at the spa or a pedicure, but this day can be made special when you and your best friend get time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. What’s even better is that there are plenty of specials and packages that spa’s promote so you can even get a great deal!
  1. Go to the Movies: My favorite way to spend Valentine’s Day is definitely to go to the movies with my friends because there is ALWAYS a great romantic comedy out or a deep romantic movie, so it all depends on your mood. Currently, I’m dying to see The Awkward Movie with Zach Efron,(because I get to look at him for two and half hours) but I’ve also heard it’s really cute and funny. There is also another movie premiering on Valentine’s Day called Endless Love, which also looks amazing but definitely way more emotional. I think either one would be a great watch for this Friday!

  1. Splurge!: Ladies we don’t need a man to buy us gifts! Grab your friends and go out shopping with them and treat yourself to that something you have had your eyes on for a while. There is nothing like a little retail therapy to lift your spirits.

  1. HAVE A PARTY: Last but not the least, have a party! The good thing about Valentine’s Day this year is that it falls on a Friday and what better way to celebrate than to invite all your single friends over who are probably looking for things to do. It doesn’t have to be anything big or crazy, maybe just a nice get together could be all you need depending on what mood you are in!
