Well Ladies, it’s about that time of year again. The campus center is strewn with red and pink and advertisements for roses and carnations for that special someone. Whether you’re taken or single, Valentine’s Day is a time to celebrate the other very important loves of your life–the girls. Now anyone can buy a good Hallmark or box of truffles, but we think these 4 DIY ideas really take the cake in showing the love for your BBFs.

Bath Bombs

What You Need

1 Cups Citric Acid

2 Cups Baking Soda

2 tbsp. Cornstarch

1 oz. Shea butter or coconut butter (melted)

5-6 drops Essential Oil of Choice

1-2 Drops Red Food Coloring (optional)

Spray bottle of Witch Hazel

Directions

-In a mixing bowl combine cornstarch, citric acid and baking soda, being sure to remove all lumps.

-Add in Red food coloring, melted butter and essential oil and continue to mix.

-Using your spray bottle, spray the mixture 2-3 times and mix, slowly adding more witch hazel until the mixture holds it shaped when pressed together.

-Press into silicone molds, making sure to compact them tightly. I used the Wilton 2Easy Flex Heart 24-Cavity Silicone Mold

-Allow it to dry in silicon molds for 12 hours. Once 12 hours is up, remove from molds, and allow to dry an additional 24 hours for a nice hard bath bomb.

-Print out the DIY Valentine Bath Bombs printable, cut out and tape on top of a short Mason jar lid.  You can also print it out on sticker paper.

-Give to your Valentine!

Hot Cocoa

What You Need:

Hot chocolate mix and chocolate bars (I used my local fave, Lake Champlain Chocolates, but any brand or size of bar will work).

Spice jar

Mini metal scoop (I found mine at the grocery store but this one is similar).

Mini cards

Envelope sleeves

Heart punch

Wrapping paper

Ribbon or twine

Scissors

Tape

Directions:

First, gather your favorite hot chocolate mix and chocolate bars. For the hot chocolate, I saw this glass spice jar at the grocery store and thought it was a perfect size for gifts. Scoop in the mix, add a square of wrapping paper over the top, and secure with a ribbon. Include a mini scoop with the gift if you would like.

For the chocolate bars, peel off the outside label (keep the inner foil layer on there). Cut a piece of wrapping paper to the same size as the label. Wrap, tape, and add a ribbon. For bars that do not have the inner foil (like my mid-sized one), just wrap over the original label. I made simple cards using a heart punch, red card stock, and envelope sleeves.

M&M Fudge Bars

What You Need:

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1 bag (about 2 cups) white chocolate or vanilla chips

1 bag Valentines Day M&M candies

Optional: sprinkles

Directions:

-Line an 8×8 inch pan with wax paper or nonstick foil and spray with cooking spray.

-In a medium saucepan, add condensed milk and chocolate (or vanilla) chips. Melt over medium-low heat, stirring throughout, until smooth. Gently stir in M&M candies (reserve about ½ cup). Pour mixture into prepared pan. Sprinkle reserved M&Ms onto mixture, gently pressing into fudge (if you want to add sprinkles, do it now!). Allow to cool at room temperature overnight before cutting into squares. (You can also put it in the fridge to speed up the process!) Store in airtight container.
