Fall has finally caught up to us and as you know, with that comes colder temperatures. While colder weather brings cute boots, cuddly sweaters, and warm apple cider, it also brings chapped skin.  Chapped skin is not only embarrassing but painful. Luckily, there are many ways to avoid it. One of my favorite ways to hydrate my skin is with a homemade sugar scrub.  This homemade sugar scrub recipe is super easy and cheaper than buying similar products at Bath and Body Works or The Body Shop! It is also very convenient, as you probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen already! This sugar scrub is a great gift idea, just prepare in a mason jar and add a pretty label and ribbon!

All you need is:
2 ½ cups of sugar
1 cup extra virgin olive oil (or you can use baby oil if you like the smell)
4 table spoons of lemon juice (or any essential oils you like)
Directions:
Mix all of the ingredients together until it forms a gritty paste and enjoy!

(Note: You will have to mix it before use. The scrub tends to separate after sitting.)

Lottie is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa and she is a communications major with a journalism minor. She has always had a passion for fashion and writing, so she figured, why not combine them? She was a writer for Her Campus only one semester before becoming the Editor-in-chief and campus correspondent for fall of 2011. Lottie is very excited to take on the challenge and to make great things happen with Her Campus magazine.
