Crazy costumes, jewelry, teased hair, glitter, and overly done makeup. No, Ke$ha isn’t coming to town. It’s Halloween, my friends! It’s time to start preparing for one epic weekend of friends, fun, and freak outs. In light of the holiday season, we felt we should share with you the do’s and don’ts for a successful Halloween weekend.
DO go in a group costume: This may sound lame to some of you, but if youget the right costumes andtheright people, you’ll have a blast! I once saw a group idea for The Bachelor – have a man in a tux with several dressed up ladies holding a rose. Simple, sexy, and easy to do! There’s no doubt people will be turning heads and wishing they did something like that.
DON’T drink all the jungle juice: It’s one thing to want to have fun, but it’s another thing to have too muchfun. We’re all for enjoying yourself! But be sure to know the laws and your limits. There’s nothing worse than being “that annoying drunk girl” on Halloween and having tagged pictures to prove it.
DO hit up a haunted house: Personally, I’m not a huge fan of being scared. However, I do realize that some of you are adrenaline junkies and would do anything to seek out that thrill. That said, hit up some of the local haunted houses like the Heart of Darkness in Waterloo!
DO make your own costume: Check out our previous article DIY Halloween Costumes 2011 for creative(and cheap!) ideas.
DO bring a jacket: In the midst of all your costume creating and party planning, you might not have had time to check out your weather forecast. It’s the one thing that can make or break your costume idea. The weekend is looking pretty chilly so if your costume does not consist of much fabric, consider grabbing a coat on your way out!
DON’T wear the skinny stilettos: Pair a great heel with any costume and you instantly become “sexy” (sexynurse, sexy school girl, sexy police woman). However, you should think about where you’re going to be all night. If you’ll be doing a lot of walking, you might want to reconsider your shoe choice. You don’t want your night to be ruined due to sore feet!
DO the classic hot chocolate + bonfire experience: It wouldn’t be the Halloween season without it! So gather up your close friends, a blanket, and the goods. Spend some time enjoying the beautiful fall nights while they’re here!
Remember, Halloween is about having a good time with your friends. Don’t sweat the small stuff and just go with the flow. With these tips in mind, you’ll be sure to have a Halloween to remember!
