Sugar shakes, a well-known phenomenon that kick in at the most inopportune times, sometimes baffle even the most intense dieter. It’s hard to shake that intense craving for brownies, cookies, and ice cream. While the cravings seem hopeless, it is possible to cave in without sacrificing your body and health.  The past week I have been experimenting with several healthy, store bought alternatives that will satisfy even the sweetest tooth without leaving your wallet and love handles crying.

Here are the healthy and awesome products that are Blair approved:

Fiber One Brownies

These brownies are perfect sized for a smaller sugar shake. They lack the homemade brownie taste but with only 90 calories, you can’t go wrong. I tried the chocolate fudge variety but they also carry a peanut butter flavor  that I’m sure would be just as satisfying.

Weight Watchers Dark Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream Bars
T
hese suckers are by far the best health conscious sweet that I tried. They taste just like the real deal. They come in a generous size and pack only 110 calories. The price is slightly steep but I fully believe they are worth the penny if you are looking for a sugary substitute for Four Queens.

Whonu nutrition rich cookies

We have all seen these advertised on television. The makers of these cookies promote them as the healthy cookie alternative. While they do pack a punch of vitamins, they have as much sugar. In three cookies, there is a whopping 14 grams of sugar and 160 calories. They pass the taste test for sure but you may still have to spend a little extra time at the WRC after these babies.

While each of these options is healthier than grabbing a milkshake at a fast food restaurant, just remember that moderation is the key to a healthy waistline! Happy snacking everyone!

Lottie is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa and she is a communications major with a journalism minor. She has always had a passion for fashion and writing, so she figured, why not combine them? She was a writer for Her Campus only one semester before becoming the Editor-in-chief and campus correspondent for fall of 2011. Lottie is very excited to take on the challenge and to make great things happen with Her Campus magazine.
