What is your favorite part of UNI?
– The beautiful campus
– my major
– Greek Life

Why did you choose UNI?
I choose UNI because it was far enough from home but, not too far. I liked that it was a state school with a small school feel. UNI’s size and location is what really convinced me. I went to a very small high school so I liked that it was bigger but that it was not too big. I loved how pretty the campus was and that I could get to all my classes within ten minutes.

What is your favorite college memory?
My favorite college memory is when I went through Sorority Formal Recruitment my sophomore year. I decided after my freshman year that I was not as involved as I wanted to be. I wanted to try Recruitment and see what Sorority life was all about, knowing that at any point if it was not for me I could drop the process. As I look back now, it was the best decision that I made in college. I was able to get involved in an organization that stood on principles of scholarship, sisterhood, and service. In Alpha Delta Pi, I made lifelong friends, held leadership positions, took a part in traditions with a rich and long history, and volunteered in the community and on campus.

What are your plans after UNI?
My plan after UNI is to work in the Des Moines area helping children in some way with grad school as a possibility in the future.

What activities are you involved with on campus?
I am a member of NIFSO, Northern Iowa Family Services Organization and Alpha Delta Pi.

What is your dream job?
My dream job would be anything that helps with children, families and hopefully family counseling one day.

What is your favorite clothing item in your closet and why?
My favorite clothing item in my closet is my dark-wash flare jeans from the LOFT. The dark wash is slimming and I can easily dress them up or dress them down.

What is one item on your Christmas list?
One item I really want for Christmas is a pair of Cowboy boots. I never thought I would want a pair but they are so cute with a little floral summer dress!

If you could be any book, movie or tv show character, who would you be and why?
I would be Rory Gilmore from the TV show Gilmore Girls. I love her witty personality! She is pretty and has a feminine classic style. She is also smart, confident and has a great relationship with her mom, just like I do. Plus all the characters in the small town crack me up!

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time I love to be with my friends, go shopping, go to the movies, do arts and crafts or watch TV.

Any inspiring quotes, verses, sayings you like to life by?
“When you look at a person, any person, remember that everyone has a story. Everyone has gone through something that has shaped who they are.” “Nothing is impossible; the word itself says I’m Possible.” “Life does not have to be perfect to be wonderful.” “Good better best, never let it rest till the good is better and the better is best.”

Lottie is a junior at the University of Northern Iowa and she is a communications major with a journalism minor. She has always had a passion for fashion and writing, so she figured, why not combine them? She was a writer for Her Campus only one semester before becoming the Editor-in-chief and campus correspondent for fall of 2011. Lottie is very excited to take on the challenge and to make great things happen with Her Campus magazine.
