For those of you that went to UDay I’m sure you saw the amount of clubs we have here at UNH. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re into athletics or just want to hang out on a hammock and make friends, you’ll have no trouble finding your place.
One of the newest clubs on campus is the UNH Freestyle Figure Skating Club! This is going to be the second year for these girls and they couldn’t be more excited to not only be back but to have so many new members! Last year the UNH Freestyle Figure Skating Club skated to Ke$ha’s “Die Young” at a Men’s hockey game vs. Merrimack College and are hoping to do more of that this year. The girls are already planning on skating hockey intermissions as well as putting on their own show! Some of the girls are even planning on competing in the collegiate completion at Cornell University in November.
That’s the best part about this club is that anyone can join! There are no tryouts and all levels are welcomed. At practice they separate the ice between the beginners and the more advanced skaters and everyone practices their individual skills. They also have an amazing coach, Devon Dillion, who coaches at not only UNH but at least five other rinks in the New Hampshire/Massachusetts area. Devon bounces back and forth between the beginner and the advanced skaters and assists with all their different tricks.
This is still a new club, but the girls are excited to start another year.
