Top 5 Spring Break Destinations of 2011

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Spring Break.  The two most coveted words in any college student’s vocabulary.  Every year students across the country scrape together enough money to get away with their friends, travel to an exotic location, and have the time of their lives.  Here are the top 5 spring break destinations for 2011!

1. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
This year it seems everyone is talking about Punta Cana.  In my opinion it beats out Mexico as the top spot to travel for spring break 2011.  Located in the Dominican Republic, temperatures range in the 70s-80s in March.  Punta Cana is the perfect place to travel if you’re looking for gorgeous weather and a packed party scene where you’re guaranteed to run into many of your classmates.

2. Cancun, Mexico
Cancun has always been regarded as the top spring break destination and this year is no different.  From MTV parties during the day to crazy nightclubs with acts this year including The Devil and Dayglow, this is definitely a huge party spot.  Many say that the party never stops in Cancun and if you travel here you’re bound to run into some celebrities, whether it’s a reality star or a famous DJ.

3. Acapulco, Mexico
Many argue over which is more fun: Cancun or Acapulco.  According to those who have experienced both, Acapulco has the best nightlife and club scene, while Cancun has a better daytime party atmosphere and nicer beaches.  Either way, those who travel to the shores of Acapulco Bay will find cool clubs and great pool parties.

4. Miami, Florida
Miami is frequented by spring breakers every year.  While this option is more popular for juniors and seniors who are 21 or older, the city offers plenty of activities for anyone any age.  Some complain that the nightlife and restaurants can be a bit pricey compared to some of the other locations with all-inclusive options.  However, nothing can compare to the gorgeous South Beach which is always guaranteed to be crowded with students.

5. Panama City Beach, Florida
Panama City Beach is near the top of the list when it comes to Floridian beaches.  This city is smaller than Miami and is completely overtaken with spring breakers during those few weeks in March.  There are lots of day parties on the beach and many of the clubs here are 18+.

No matter what you decide to do this spring break, whether visit your friend abroad in Italy or stay home and babysit for your neighbor, make sure you take time to sit back and relax. College is hard and you need some time off! Go get one of those great new gel manicures, sit by your hotel pool, or order the most expensive drink on the menu. Like I said, you UNH collegiette, deserve it!
