As someone who is most definitely addicted to her iPhone, here are some of the top apps that I have found!

1. Wearcast:  If you’re like me, every morning before I get dressed I look up the weather.  However, looking at the temperature I am still usually confused about what that means I should actually wear.  This app helps you out, giving you the temperature and forecast and also a picture of a woman (or man) dressed for the day!

2. Foursquare:  This app uses your phone’s GPS to show you restaurants, bars, and other attractions that are located around you.  When you visit these locations you can “check in” to share your location with your friends; you can also connect this to Facebook and Twitter. Once you check in to a location you can leave reviews and tips, as well as read what other people have previously said.  This could include what bar offers the best deals, or what entrée is good at a particular restaurant.

3. Pandora: Many of you probably have used this program on your computer, but it’s great to have on your phone too for on the go.  This app is an internet radio that has you to enter an artist or song and provides you with a personalized radio station that includes songs by the artist and others similar to it.

4. Shazam: Next time your out at a club or listening to the radio wondering the name of the song you’re listening to, use this app.  After listening to the song for a few seconds Shazam will tell you the name and artist of the song.

5. Words with Friends: This is extremely similar to scrabble. Once you make a username you can look up your friend’s usernames and start an ongoing game of scrabble against them.  You can also start a game with a random person if none of your friends are on it.

6. Lose it!:  There are tons of apps that help you to track your food intake and exercise, but I find this one to be the best.  The program allows you to set up a plan to lose or maintain weight.  It asks you to log what you eat throughout the day and informs you of how many more calories you can intake; it also takes into account your physical activity.

7. Epicurious:  Whether you are a great cook, or struggle to make even the most basic of dinners this app is here to help.  They offer hundreds of ideas for Quick & Easy Dinners, Seasonal Dishes, Vegetarian Main Dishes, Low Carb & Low Calories Meals, and many more.  You can also search for a particular recipe.  Especially at school it is hard to come up with a variety of ideas for dinner with our limited income and cooking supplies, but Epicurious has some great ideas.  Also, when you chose a recipe, the app will connect the needed ingredients to a shopping list so you know exactly what you need at the grocery store!

8. Fios Remote and Verizon Fios DVR Manager:  No more searching under couch cushions for the clicker! This enables you to control your TV from your phone.  Sorry Comcast users, I was unable to find one that worked for them yet, but I’m sure one will come out soon. The DVR Manager is also great because even if you leave the house forgetting to program your favorite show to record, you can do it from your phone instead.

9. Stumble Upon: This is a search engine that shows you interesting sites on the web that are specifically recommended for you and your interests.

10. Twitter:  This app allows you to share your clever thoughts or any interesting articles and websites in 140 characters or less.  You can follow your favorite celebs, keep up with the news, and stay connected with your friends. Twitter is a social network that is continuing to grow and is a great place to network when looking for a job as well.
