As a college student, it can be extremely hard to wake up in the morning for class, and even I have found myself sleeping through occasional 9AMs way more than I’d like to admit. But whether you have an early class to get ready for or not, it is important to start your day off right to keep your spirits high throughout the rest of your day. Here are some things you can do each morning to prepare yourself for a great day:Â
- Making your bedÂ
Making your bed in the morning is a key step in having a great day. Every morning that I get up and make my bed, I instantly feel more productive and gain a lot more motivation. It also makes your room look cleaner and more presentable. After all, your bed is the focal point of your bedroom, so having it made can lead to a more orderly look.Â
- Making a coffeeÂ
If I don’t make my morning coffee, I won’t function. For me, the smell of coffee in my room also gives me a sense of comfort. Having that extra boost of caffeine contributes to my day in tremendous ways, because I never feel myself lacking a ton of energy by the afternoon. For those that don’t like coffee, a Rush from Aroma’s could also do the trick.Â
- Eating breakfastÂ
I know it can be hard to work up the motivation to wake up early and walk to the dining hall before class, but starting your day with a full meal will make you feel so much better. Not only does it boost your energy, but it also can help improve your focus. Going to class on an empty stomach just makes me focus on the fact that I’m hungry, and that eventually just puts me in a bad mood. When I go to class having eaten a good breakfast, I find myself focusing a lot better on the material I am learning.Â
- Listening to musicÂ
I can’t get ready for the day, or at all for that matter, if I don’t have any good music playing. For me, my getting ready playlist depends on what time of day it is, as well as the weather outside. It just makes me feel good to listen to my favorite songs right when I wake up to get myself ready for the day. It also reduces my stress levels and helps me concentrate. I also like to listen to music when doing homework to give me a little concentration boost.Â
- Wearing a cute outfitÂ
Putting on a cute outfit for the day is so good, especially for a girl. In my case, it boosts my confidence so much and honestly makes me feel much more productive. When I look good, I feel good, and even a simple thing like throwing on jeans and a sweater rather than sweats and a hoodie can make all the difference in my overall mood for the day. It is also just fun to play dress-up every once in a while.Â
No matter how small any of these things may be, they really are the little things that count in making sure you start your day off right. Whether you take all these steps, or just some, you are guaranteed to have a better and more productive start to your day.Â
