As we approach finals season, it is easy to find yourself overwhelmed with pressure. Projects and exams can be difficult to manage while maintaining a social life. On the other side of this academic madness, summer is coming. Regardless of whether you prefer winter or summer temperatures, there is comfort in knowing the chaos in Durham will be over for a three-month hiatus. While it is exciting that summer vacation is almost here, it is important to make the best of it. Here is a list of ideas for your summer 2023 bucket list:

Movie Night: Whether you like comedies or horror movies, a movie night allows you to sit back and relax. Grab some popcorn and share your favorite movie with friends.

Sunrise/Sunset Trip: If you are a morning person, consider driving to the beach and watching the sunrise. However, if you’re a night owl like me, you can also watch a sunset if you prefer.

Game Night: I know this may sound lame, but the weather is not always going to be beautiful and 80 degrees. It is important to have some fun rainy-day activities planned too.

Baking Day: If you’ve ever considered trying a new recipe or two, consider making a day out of it. As a foodie lover, I will always say yest to trying something new.

Watch Fireworks: While this is a popular event on the Fourth of July, it is not uncommon to find people lighting fireworks throughout the summer season.

Lake Day/ Beach Day: While this may seem like an obvious choice, be sure to plan a full day at the beach. Parking is hard to find later in the day, so it important to plan ahead of time.

Try a New Ice Cream Flavor: Have you ever tried pistachio or butter pecan ice cream? Well, there is no better time to expand your boundaries. Personally, I love cookie dough ice cream.

Pick Your Own Fruit: There are so many local farms in New Hampshire, and I highly recommend picking blueberries or strawberries. There is nothing better than bring fresh fruit home.

Volunteer at an Animal Shelter: Are you looking for a way to give back to your community? Animal shelters are constantly looking for new people to help their furry friends. I started volunteering at a cat rescue last summer, and it was one of the best choices I ever made.
