Trust me, I know we all thought we’d be stuck in this winter wonderland forever (I mean, our groundhog friend even said so) but spring is finally just a few days away! Whether we believe the little groundhog or not, we are all itching – literally itching – to purge our closets of those heavy knit sweaters and scarves, and start hanging up our beloved spring dresses and pastel pants. A new season means a new you with a new style, so it is only fair that we clear out our jam-packed closets and start hanging up our fresh, light, spring looks. The coming of spring cannot be controlled by a groundhog and it is time we prepare ourselves for nice weather, sun in our eyes, and of course, classy day-drink outfits because…DUH. Here are some ideas for clothes you will want to remove from your closet, and those you don’t want to forget to add.

Bye-Bye Winter

Scarves & Gloves– Make room for lighter scarves, belts, hats, and sandals! Get excited for no longer needing to take one glove off with your teeth as you send that important text message on your way to class. Don’t get me wrong though, it will definitely be difficult saying goodbye to our outrageously, oversized, I’m literally wearing a fuzzy animal around my neck Urban Outfitters scarves.

Knitted Sweaters– I don’t think there was one girl on campus this winter that did not wear leggings and an oversized sweater to class at least once. I know we have developed a relationship with our knitted sweaters but it is time to kiss them goodbye so we can finally show off our t-shirts and tank tops that have been hiding underneath those large things.

Uggs– Besides the fact no one should be wearing these things ever, they definitely should not be seen out and about when it’s sunny and 65°.

Puffy Coats– No need for a portable sleeping bag anymore!

Boots– Essential for any fall or winter outfit but not useful in the spring. As typical NH girls it will be difficult saying goodbye to our bean boots, but they’ve got to go. However, make sure to keep those Hunter boots around for rainy days to come!

Hello Spring

Sandals– The most obvious accessory that indicates spring is among us and can add color to any outfit.                                                                                  (Steve Madden Sandals $25 to $50)

Jean jacket– An essential for those windy spring days

Maxi skirts/dresses– Easy to dress up or down and super comfortable.

Skate Shoes– A big must-have trend for spring ’14. Most girls may think they can’t pull this look off, but they are comfortable and practical, and come in all different designs so give them a shot!

Pastel pants– Paired with a white shirt and statement necklace, these make for a quick on-the-go outfit. They are also a nice transition if you’re not quite ready for shorts.                                                                                    (Gap $50)

By spring-cleaning your closet you will be prepared for the warm weather on the way, but don’t forget about making time for that necessary pedicure!
