If you’re like me, you probably can’t afford to make huge spring break plans in Cancun or Miami. Scrolling through Instagram and seeing all your friends partying somewhere tropical is no fun while you are stuck at home. But, believe it or not, there are plenty of fun things to do over spring break that don’t involve breaking the bank. Here are just some ideas:

  1. Catch up with your hometown friends.

It can be hard to be away from your high school friends, especially when you grew up with them and spent most of your life together. Spring Break is a great time to make plans to see them, plan a movie night, go shopping, or get a bite to eat.

     2. Brunch!

There’s no better way to feel classy with your girls, while pigging out on an endless buffet of food. You don’t have to wake up early for it, and you don’t have to decide whether you want breakfast food or lunch food. It’s perfect for Instagrammable food pics, and it’s an excuse to get dressed up.

     3. Pick up a shift or two at work.

I know, this doesn’t exactly have “fun” written all over it, but that paycheck at the end of the week will definitely feel worth it. And hey, sometimes work isn’t too bad. It can be really nice to see your coworkers after a few months at school.

     4. Have a self-care day.

School can really take a toll on your physical and mental health. I know that there are days I am so stressed out and consumed by homework that I am not able to take care of myself. So, over break take a day just for you, to do things that will help you recover from the last few months of school. Do a facemask, go to the gym, get your nails done, or cook a nice meal for yourself. You deserve it.

     5. Take a hike.

A simple search online will be able to show you the best places to hike near you, and some of those spots may be hidden gems with beautiful views. So, get outside and explore a little, who knows what you’ll find.

     6. Get Creative.

While you’re online searching for the next greatest trail to hike, why not take a look at Pinterest and find something crafty that you can do with your girls, or by yourself. Maybe get a canvas and take a trip to the park so you can paint the scenery, or break out your camera to take some cool pictures of you and your friends. Make a scrapbook, decorate your room, paint, draw, or whatever else you decide to do. The possibilities are endless.

     7. Spend time with your family.

It’s been a few weeks since your family has seen you, and I’m sure they want to spend time with you. Plan a family dinner night or a fun activity for you all to do together.

      8. Cuddle your dog.

This one goes without saying. Your pup has been waiting for you to come back since the day you left. He misses you, go give him a hug.

     9. Relax and enjoy your well deserved break.

Finally, it’s spring break and you can take a minute to breathe before you are slammed with assignments again. Sleep for a whole day, watch an entire series on Netflix, read a book, eat all the food in your fridge, or don’t get out of bed. Do whatever it is that will make you the happiest. You deserve that.
