My skin is difficult to say the least. It’s always been more on the dry side for most of my life. However, a few years ago I started getting really oily in my T-zone and developing some acne on my chin and the lower part of my cheeks. I was puzzled; I always took good care of my skin. I never really got acne before either, but this forced me to start trying new products as I realized that my skin was changing. Finally, after a couple years of experimenting, I finally found an amazing set of products that helps my combo skin stay hydrated and healthy.

1. Removing the Makeup

To take off my makeup, I use the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They really do a great job at taking off all of my makeup (and I am a full coverage girl most of the time). Afterwards, I use the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water for all skin types/sensitive skin (which is the one with the pink cap). This helps just remove any extra dirt or makeup still on my face.

2. Washing My Face

I got really into using Clinique over the past couple of years. The brand is on the more expensive side, but the products really do wonders for my skin. I first use their Liquid Facial Soap: Mild, which is for dry to combination skin. Then, I use Clinique’s Acne Solutions Cleansing Foam. These two face washes make my skin feel renewed and super clean without having it feel dry and tight.

3. Topical Care

After washing my face, I use a variety of things to ensure I dry up my acne, but also keep my skin hydrated. I use the Clinique Acne Solutions Clarifying Lotion and the All Over Clearing Treatment. For those really bad pimples, I’ll put on the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion after the Clarifying Lotion and All Over Clearing Treatment soaks into my skin. However, I’ll only use these other acne items if I have a break out at the time. Afterwards, I’ll use the Valjean Labs Hydrate Serum on the dry spots. You can find Valjean Labs at TJ Maxx and it’s much cheaper there than it is on Amazon!

4. Pre-Makeup Care

In the morning before I put on any make up, I make sure to prep and prime my skin well. First, I use the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater. I drench my face in it and let it soak in before I use the Garnier Clearly Brighter Moisturizer. This moisturizer is super light and feels great on the skin. Finally, I top everything off with the Nyx Angel Veil Primer before putting any makeup on my skin.

I’ve realized that skincare is really personal to every individual and sometimes it takes a while to figure out if something works for your skin. Look into ingredients and think about what your skin needs. I hope these recommendations help!
