Right after Thanksgiving, Her Campus UNH had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with the student nutrition group on campus to but on a bootcamp class where all proceeds benefitted the Beyond the Rainbow fund at Exeter Hospital. Kathy Kerrigan is known throughout the Durham community for her event, Kathy for a Cure, which benefits the same organization. Kathy is a breast cancer survivor and we were fortunate enough to have two of her four sons come and speak at our event! Afterwards, we were able to sit down with Ryan, a current UNH student, to learn more about him, his UNH favs, and his involvement with his mom’s fundraiser!

Would you mind telling us more about what Kathy for a Cure is?
Kathy for a cure is a a fundraiser my mom started to benefit the beyond the rainbow foundation. It is non profit, and focused on giving back directly to the Seacoast without getting caught up in administration fees like you see from big organizations. The fundraiser is a fitness oriented event with the slogan movement heals. Pilates Zumba yoga boot camp circuit training and dance classes are held all day.
What is your involvement with this organization?
As Kathy’s favorite son of four boys I help with recovering donations, the raffle prizes and advertisement!
What is your favorite part of being involved with this organization?
My favorite part of the organization is seeing the joy on survivors face when they enter the room and see how powerful of an environment and cause we’re putting on.
Are you involved in anything else on campus?
I work part time for Chinburg Properties in Newmarket as a warranty technician and construction laborer
