Make the Most of Your College Experience: Check Out These Upcoming Events on Campus

One of my favorite things about UNH is how many incredible events happen on campus every weekend – there is always something to do! They’re almost all free for students, and you should definitely go to as many as you can since you’ve already paid for them in your tuition. I’ve put together a comprehensive list of the events that will be happening on campus from now until the beginning of October, so try to make time to attend a few!

September 22: Hypnotist Steve Taubman

9pm in the Strafford Room

Hosted by the Memorial Union & Student Activities

An ex-neurotic, ex-Long Island chiropractor and his personal life transformation that led to his helping others discover the keys to their success and the development of his successful UnHypnosis system and bestselling book.

 

September 24: The Moon Festival

6:30pm in the Strafford Room

Hosted by the Chinese Student and Scholar Association at UNH

A mid-autumn harvest festival celebrated notably by ethnic Chinese peoples. This year’s celebration will include traditional games, free drinks, and free snacks. All students are welcome to celebrate! Plus, Chinese Classical Poetry Competitions will take place from 7:30-8:00pm and all students are welcome to compete.

 

September 26: S’Mores with President Dean!

7pm in the Fishbowl

Hosted by CLA in collaboration with Hillel, Black Student Union,

Native American Cultural Association, and United Asian Coalition

Join CLA, Hillel, Black Student Union, Native American Cultural Association, and United Asian Coalition in the Fishbowl to roast some marshmallows, make s’mores, and chat with UNH’s new President!

 

September 26: Sketched Out Presents ‘Bailed Out’

8pm in MUB 233

Hosted by Sketched Out Comedy Troupe

Check out Sketched Out’s first show of the semester where they guarantee a night of laughter!

 

September 28: Lane Moore’s Tinder Live!

9pm in the Strafford Room

Hosted by the Memorial Union & Student Activities and MUSO

Lane Moore is an award-winning stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and musician living in NYC! Her show, Tinder Live!, is the only comedy show exploring the crazy world of Tinder. This critically acclaimed show is an interactive comedy showstopper with helpful and ridiculous tips and tricks and real-time swiping and messaging on Tinder!

 

September 29: MUB Comedy Club feat. Jake Rush w/ Ben Smith

9pm in the MUB Entertainment Center

Hosted by the Memorial Union & Student Activities

Jake Rush is an up and coming comedian based in LA, pursuing a career in comedy. Using a combination of comedic timing and boyish charm, he has taken the LA comedy scene by storm. Performing with Jake will be Ben Smith and UNH’s own student opener Kyle Sharpe!

 

October 1: ‘A Star is Born’ [Free Advanced Screening]

7pm in MUB Theater II

Hosted by the Memorial Union & Student Activities

Seasoned musician Jackson Maine discovers — and falls in love with — struggling artist Ally. She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer until Jackson coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jackson fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

October 3: The Magic Ingredient that Brings Pixar Movies to Life

7pm in the Strafford Room

Hosted by the Memorial Union & Student Activities, Memorial Union Board of Governors

The Therapeutic Art Club, and Women in Business

Danielle Feinberg, the Director of Photography at Pixar, developed a love of combining computers and art when she was eight years old. This early passion led her to getting her Bachelor’s in Computer Science from Harvard and a career at Pixar. In addition to her work at Pixar, she mentors teenage girls and encourages them to pursue code, math, and science.
