A Letter to Collegiettes Preparing for the Real World

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Dear Soon-to-be Senior,

I bet you thought this day would never come, but here it is. If you’re anything like me you most definitely don’t have it all together and are probably losing it trying to figure out how to be a productive adult in today’s society. If you’ve already had an internship or shadowing position then kudos to you, you are already ahead of the game. If not, don’t fret, you are in the same boat as about 75% of the rest of your class. But now is the time, summer before your senior year is the perfect time to gain some experience in your field of study. Pad that resume because graduation is right around the corner and that means it’s time to jump into the real world. If that scares you, well I don’t really have an answer for you because it scares everyone. We’re all a little nervous and feeling unprepared, some more than others. Just know it is not as scary as you think and you can do it. Finish this last year strong but don’t forget to have fun. It’s true that college will be the best four years of your life so spend as much time as you can with all your friends and make a few more memories. Everything after that will fall into place. Remember to have fun, make the best of this last year and look forward to your future because it’s all just beginning from here.

Sincerely,

Someone who’s been there
