I guess you could say I like to read; more accurately, you could say I love to read. Reading was a new hobby I picked up in 2023, and I took this hobby to an extreme level. I have read 100 books this year and I am here to tell you which ones were my favorite and are worth your time to read. It was honestly a struggle to only pick 10 books. This article is obviously 100% my opinion, but this is what I came up with.
10. It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Rating: Four stars
It Ends With Us is a have-to-read romance novel. Some people say that this novel is overrated, but I honestly think that it is appropriately rated and Colleen Hoover did well with this one.
If you enjoyed It Ends With Us, also read It Starts With Us, which tells the story of Lily and Atlas; another four-star read.
9. The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
Rating: Four stars
The Silent Patient is an incredibly written novel with a huge twist that will leave you questioning everything. This novel is one of my favorite thrillers to date.
8. Twisted Love by Ana Huang
Rating: Five stars
Twisted Love is a romance novel everyone needs in their life. It is the perfect steamy, yet wholesome romance we all desire.
If you enjoyed Twisted Love, also read the rest of the books in the Twisted series: Twisted Games, Twisted Hate and Twisted Lies. Also check out Ana Huang’s newest project, the King of Sin series, which so far includes King of Wrath, King of Pride and King of Greed.
7. The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
Rating: Five stars
The Housemaid leaves you on the edge of your seat the entire time. This novel is incredibly written with mind-boggling twists.
If you enjoyed The Housemaid also read the sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret. Or check out any of Freida McFadden’s amazing novels.
6. Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell
Rating: Five stars
Then She Was Gone has got to be my favorite thriller novel. It is one of those books where at the end you say to yourself “I should have seen this coming,” yet you didn’t.
5. If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin
Rating: Five stars
If He Had Been With Me is the most heart-wrenching novel that I read this year. It leans more on the young adult side, but it truly is an incredible novel. Warning: you may experience uncontrollable sobbing after finishing.
4. One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Rating: Four stars
One True Loves is a phenomenal novel that draws you in right from the beginning. I experienced all of my emotions through my heart with this novel — hurting one minute, happy the next.
3. Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren
Rating: Five stars
Love and Other Words is probably my favorite romance novel that I read this year. It is incredibly written, with amazing characters and a perfect plot. I will be definitely re-reading this novel in the near future.
2. Verity by Colleen Hoover
Rating: Five stars
Verity is by far my favorite novel by Colleen Hoover. It is the perfect combination of a thriller and a romance novel: my two favorite genres. I honestly think that this novel does not get the recognition it deserves. I devoured Verity in one day, it’s beyond amazing.
1. Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
Rating: Five stars
I was forever changed after reading Every Last Word. This novel left me questioning my existence. I read this novel pretty early in the year, but no other book could ever top it for me. Every Last Word falls more into the young adult category, but you will be left thinking about the plot twist for the rest of your life. Every Last Word is one of those novels where I wish I could read it for the first time again. Tamara Ireland Stone really set the bar high with this one.
