How To Spend Your Valentine’s Day At UNH

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

The holiday you either love or hate (depending on your current relationship status) is right around the corner. Valentine’s Day is coming up real fast and whether you have a significant other or not, there are many ways you and your boyfriend/girlfriend or even friends can spend the day.

Here’s a list of things to do at UNH this Valentines Day!

1. Go to Portsmouth or grab dinner on campus

We are truly blessed to go to school in such a cool location. Having a place like Portsmouth so close by leaves us with so many delcious places to eat. This Valentines Day is the perfect chance for you to explore the town and all it has to offer. There are a ton of shops, food places and things for you to do. If you  feel like staying on campus, Durham also has great places for you to grab a bite. Highly suggest checking out Bella’s if you are into food and feel like eating 8 meals.

2. Go to the movies in Newington or at the MUB

You can never go wrong with going to the movies especially when Fifty Shades Darker comes out around Valentine’s Day (am i right ladies).  However, if you are a broke college student spending 15 dollars on a movie isn’t always ideal. Luckily, the MUB offers free movies to students so if you are feeling like saving this might be a better option.

3. Girls night in

All the single ladies this one is for you! This holiday doesn’t always have to be about the romance. Grab the wine, some cookies your favorite chick flicks, and your best friends to have yourself a classic girls night.

4. Grab drinks somewhere

For all the 21 year olds like myself, grabbing a drink on campus or in the Portsmouth/Dover area is the perfect way to spend your Valentines Day. There are a ton of cute bars for you and your bae to hang out at! If you are under 21, a cute date idea that doesn’t involve alcohol could be going out for coffee. Let’s be honest, Durham has so many places for you to go and even around durham you can find cute coffee shops or trucks.

5. Do an activity like bowling or ice-skating.

I personally love bowling and ice-skating so these two ideas sound like a perfect day to me. If you are into bowling, you can check out Dover bowl and if you want to ice-skate, you can do that right here on campus. Both are fun options and are super close by!

6.  Splurge on a hotel in Boston

This one goes back to how blessed we are to go to school in such a cool place! Boston is only 1 hour away and if you are feeling ambitious or really want to do something special, it might be a fun idea to spend the night in Boston. There are a million things to do so you really can’t go wrong!

7. Have a romantic date night in your home

This last one is the most simple but will probably end up being the best. Valentine’s Day doesn’t always have to be such a huge production. Sometimes there is nothing better than just sitting with your significant other on a casual night and hanging out.
