Festive Fall Activities to do Around Durham

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

As students at UNH, we are incredibly lucky to live in New England, one of the best places to experience fall. Not only on campus, but off-campus we are surrounded by so many autumnal activities to do to enjoy the season. Here are some festive ways to embrace fall.

DeMeritt Farm Haunted Overload

If you’re in the mood for something scary, DeMeritt Farm in Lee, NH offers a haunted attraction voted as one of the top in the country. The haunted trail is a fully immersive Halloween experience with scary sites around every turn.  As Halloween approaches, take a walk on the terrifying side and spend a night screaming your butt off with friends.

Emery Farm

Located only a few miles from campus, Emery Farm is the perfect place to pick pumpkins, enjoy cider donuts, and hang out with cute farm animals. Its scenic background also offers a great place to snap some cute pics.

College woods

If you aren’t able to get to a destination off campus, College Woods allows you to go for an adventure right here at UNH. Once the leaves turn, this is a spot to absorb the vibrant colors of fall. Go for a walk or run with friends to enjoy the beautiful foliage in the 250 acres of paths College Woods has to offer.

UNH Football Game

Nothing says fall like watching football, so cheering on the UNH football team is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Even if you don’t know much about the game, going to a football game is a fun way to be outside, hang out with friends, and show school spirit.

Applecrest Farm

Applecrest Farm, in Hampton Falls, is the perfect spot to go apple-picking, whether on a date or with a group of friends. Pick your own apples and pumpkins as well as grab some homemade apple cider and old-fashioned cider donuts. After all, fall is all about the food.

Scamman Farm Corn Maze

Spend an afternoon adventuring through a corn maze in this classic fall activity. In Stratham, NH, Scamman Farm offers the corn maze experience for only $9. What better way to enjoy this fall season than getting lost inside a maze of 12ft tall corn?

Screamfest at Canobie Lake Park

You’ll need a car to get to this location as it is about 45 min away in Salem, NH, but it is well worth it. With 5 different frightening haunted houses, you can experience the scary side of fall. It also has tons of awesome amusement park rides bringing you a festive and adrenaline-filled night.
