Trying to find the perfect leather jacket can be a daunting task. You need to be able to find one that fits you physically and comfortably, and most important, financially. Before you even venture out into stores or boutiques, do your research! Browse the internet for different styles and prices that are most like you. You also want to know want type of leather your jacket is so that you can properly take care of it so it does not become worn out or distressed (unless that’s the look you’re going for).

(we looove this one by Calvin Klein!)

One rule for leather jackets is to avoid purchasing them online. You really need to try on many different styles to make sure it’s the correct fit for you. Other considerations you need to take in to account are how often you will wear it. Leather is an expensive fabric so if you are going to break the bank and purchase one, you’ll want to make certain you’ll wear it for more than one season. You also want to make sure your leather jacket is fun and unique. Look for ones with extras like zippers, studs, pockets, or belts.

With anything style related I always turn to the Zoe Report, a style blog written by celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe. Her advice when it comes to leather jackets is “instead of going with a classic black option, I recommend trying an updated take on the trend, like a hot red or distressed brown style”. Your leather jacket should reflect your style, so find one that is unique to you. But don’t settle, do your research, and try on as many as possible and you’ll be sure to find the perfect one!
