As the leaves change color and the temperature drops, it seems everyone is rushing to get into the fall spirit. Pumpkin spice lattes, scarves, boots, chunky knits, and apple picking are all the craze. As an autumn enthusiast, I decided I’d go to the Portsmouth farmers market to get the full effect of, what I call, “fall fever”. And it didn’t disappoint.

Located at the city hall right in downtown Portsmouth, the farmers market is on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm. Many vendors come every weekend to sell their respective goods. From fresh cheeses, to hot soups, maple syrup covered popcorn, to prepared Turkish entrees, the Portsmouth farmers market offers a wide array of things to eat.

The market is also perfect for those of you living life on the healthier side. With a large selection of fresh produce, including mixed greens, melons, and many, many varieties of squash, it has all you could need to cook up a healthy fall dinner.

So if you’re looking to catch “fall fever”, check out the farmers market. Talk to the vendors, and learn of the many ways to use the fresh foods in creative, delicious (and sometimes healthy) ways.
