Who ever said that bookworms had to be nerdy? There is nothing more therapeutic than wrapping up in a blanket with your favorite book. It not only passes time, but it relaxes you in times of stress. Whether your on the airplane en route to Cancun, or just hanging out at home, keep that brain stimulated this break with some of my favorite easy reads.

The Glass Castle- A memoire by Jeannette Walls

My favorite book to date, this memoire outlines the story of a young girl growing up in a not so normal family. From childhood accidents, to numerous family moves, to alcoholic parents, the life of Jeannette is nothing less than out of the ordinary. Her life story will wrap you in from the first page and keep your attention throughout.

Heart of the Matter- by Emily Giffin

This story might hit close to home for all of my Bostonian readers. Taking place minutes from the city line, this novel switches between the stories of two different women. One woman tells of her struggles to find personal fulfillment as a stay at home mom in a society where money, class, and a successful husband are of great importance. The other woman is a single mother who places her son above anything else in life. Forced to deal with life’s unexpected curveballs, one woman has to learn to cope after her son suffers a terrible accident, and the other has to deal with having a husband who places his work above all.

Slammed- by Colleen Hoover

With the death of her father, Layken is forced to move from her home in Texas to a small, cold town in Michigan. The upsets and anger she feels with moving are soon changed upon catching eyes with her new neighbor. But of course, falling in love with this boy only brings more complications and hardships. Will their love for each other mask the problems that they are faced with?

Hopeless- by Colleen Hoover

Who ever thought that falling in love could leave you so hopeless? Sky didn’t; that’s for sure. Holder’s mysterious nature was both daunting and exciting for Sky. He filled her with more emotions than one could ever imagine possibly feeling. At times he made her feel happy and sexy, but at other times he made her confused and sad. The unexpected twists and turns of this love story and a girls mission to find herself will keep you on your toes from page one.
