If you’re anything like me, figuring out and deciding on a Halloween costume (or two) is more stressful than it should be. I constantly go back and forth between ideas until the last possible minute and then I’m left to scramble with what I have in my closet to work with. Don’t you miss when we would tell our parents what we wanted to be for Halloween and they’d just figure it out for us? Because I do. Don’t worry though, I’ve got some quick and easy last-minute costumes for you to consider.

  1. Britney Spears in the “Baby One More Time” music video:

This one is way more simple than it might seem, and maybe you have it screenshotted in your camera roll. All you’ll need for this costume are:

OUTFIT:A purple tank top that’s either already cropped or you can roll-up. If you don’t have a purple tank top but do have a purple bra, bralette, or sports bra, that works too!

-A white button-down shirt or tie-able top that you can put over the purple tank top/bra. A grey cardigan.

-Black skirt (it can be pleated, tight-fitting, flare, mini-skirt – whatever you have/makes you feel the most comfortable).

-Black knee-high socks, and if you don’t have these, but do have black tights you can cut them to look like knee-high socks! Or, don’t wear the socks at all, it won’t be detrimental to the portrayal.

-Black shoes.

HAIR AND MAKEUP:

-Two braids (and if you’ve got a pink ribbon to wrap around the ends in little bows, that’s even better).

– The makeup seems to be just a simple brown eyeshadow look, but you can get away with any sort of makeup. It doesn’t need to be exact, but if you want to nail the costume you can look up “Baby One More Time music video outfit” and you can find all the inspiration there.

  1. Sandy from Grease post-makeover:

This costume is super simple, and definitely something you’d be able to recreate with what you have in your closet. You can also do this as part of a couple or duo costume with Danny or Rizzo which I’ll list as well! For the Sandy costume, all you’ll need is:

OUTFIT:

-A black off-the-shoulder top, or a black crop top.

-Black jeans (preferably not ripped).

-A black belt (not totally necessary, but if you have it, it’s worth adding to the costume).

-Black leather jacket (again, not totally necessary but if you’ve got it, add it! – at least for the pictures).

-Red heels or red shoes. If you don’t have either of these, no need to worry, any type of show will work!

HAIR AND MAKEUP:

-As we all know, Sandy is blonde, so that would be ideal but not completely necessary! Her hair is curled in this specific scene. The curls are tighter, ringlet-type curls, but any type of curled hair works just as good!

-As for the makeup, she has more of a darker smokey-eye going on. You could use black, brown, or do whatever makes you feel the most comfortable! You have to add the classic red lip as well!

  1. Danny or Rizzo from Grease:

If you’re planning on doing a couples costume or a duo costume with your friend, these are two options to go with the Sandy costume!

DANNY OUTFIT AND HAIR:

-A white or black short sleeve t-shirt.

-Light wash jeans or black jeans (preferably not ripped).

-A black belt.

-A black leather jacket (not necessary, though).

-For the hair, it is just a simple slicked back, gelled hairstyle! Easy to recreate and the hair color doesn’t matter all that much!

RIZZO OUTFIT, HAIR, AND MAKEUP:

The easiest look to recreate for Rizzo is one of her school outfits! For this, all you’ll need is:

-A black tight-fitting dress. Rizzo’s is knee-length and has short sleeves, but yours doesn’t have to!

-Black heels, or black shoes if you don’t have any heels!

-For hair, her hair is short and curly, but if you have dark hair and just curl it that will work too!

-For makeup, she doesn’t do much, a simple eye look or whatever makes you happy will work! In this specific scene, she’s wearing a red lip!

  1. Wednesday and Morticia Addams (DUO/SOLO):

Everybody loves a classic! These two costumes can be done individually or as a duo costume, and are very easy to recreate! Here’s what you’ll need:

WEDNESDAY OUTFIT, MAKEUP, HAIR:

-Wednesday wears a simple black, long-sleeved, fit-and-flare dress. You could make it short sleeve or completely tight-fitting as well!

-She also has the collar of a white shirt underneath which you could recreate with a white button-down or a white collared t-shirt. Or, if you’re feeling creative, you could just out collar-like shaped pieces of paper or extra fabric and attach them to the dress.

-Some black knee-high socks or black tights that you can buy at your local drugstore.

-Black shoes.

-As for hair, she has her hair in two long, sleek braids.

-For makeup, you can either wear nothing or do whatever makeup you think suits the costume! She doesn’t wear much, but a lot of people will throw on dark lipstick, some black eyeliner, and mascara to elevate the costume!

MORTICIA OUTFIT, MAKEUP, HAIR:

-Morticia is always seen wearing a sleek, tight-fitting, long mermaid-style black dress. You can recreate this with any tight-fitting black dress you have! Add some black heels or black shoes and you’re all set with the outfit!

-Morticia’s hair is parted down the middle (doesn’t have to be), long, and pin-straight.

-Her makeup is a little more complex than it would be for Wednesday but still fairly simple! She has a black cut-crease smoke-eye type of eyeshadow look going on. If you’re not the most skilled in makeup, you can recreate this by adding some black eyeshadow into the crease of your eye, and then taking a white eyeshadow and putting it on your lid (either all the way or just in the inner half of your eye! You can find plenty of tutorials online too!). She also has a classic red lip on which will complete the whole look!

  1. Jigsaw or the “Billy” doll from Saw:

This costume is the easiest of all of them because you have full creative freedom over the outfit unless you want to go for the suit look the doll wears. All you need for this costume are:

OUTFIT, MAKEUP, HAIR:

-For the outfit, you can either do the suit look or wear any type of black monochrome outfit you’d prefer.

-For the hair, do whatever you please. The Jigsaw doll/Billy has horrendous hair so I advise against trying to recreate that.

-For the makeup, if you want to go all out you can take your contour and recreate some strong, ventriloquist doll-style cheekbones! The best way to recreate that look is by using a smaller blending brush and taking the contour shade and bringing it from the top of the hollows of your cheekbone all the way to the corner of your nostrils! Make sure to give it a more rounded look to emphasize the doll-like feature (you can find this through tutorials or just by looking up the Jigsaw/Billy doll online)!

-The only part of the makeup that is absolutely crucial for this costume is the red spirals on the cheeks and the two lines at the corners of your mouth! You can accomplish this with red face paint, or a red eyeliner/liquid lipstick on a thinly tipped brush. For the two lines, simply take any black eyeliner (pencil or liquid), black face paint, or eyeshadow, and draw two lines starting at the corners of your mouth to the bottom of your chin. These two things are the most important part of the costume and will be the thing that clarify what your costume is!

  1. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction:

This costume is a little harder due to her short, black hair, but if you have dark hair the length won’t really matter! Here’s what you’ll need:
OUTFIT, HAIR, MAKEUP:

-For the outfit, you’ll need a white button-down shirt that you can either button up ¾ of the way or leave completely unbuttoned.

-A black bra, tank top, bralette, or sports bra to put underneath.

-Black jeans or leggings.

-Black shoes.

-You can include a fake cigarette if you’d like!

-For the hair, as I mentioned, it’s a short bob and straight, but any straight dark hair will do! If you’re blonde and get your hands on a black wig, feel free to throw it on!

-Makeup is simple! Mia doesn’t wear much on the eyes, you could do some eyeliner and mascara or whatever you’d like! She wears a red lip, and you can also use that red lipstick to recreate the iconic bloody nose look! You can simply take some of the red lipstick and put it on your finger and just rub it underneath your nostril. If the red looks to fake, you can take a darker-maroon eyeshadow and just gently put it on top to give it more of blood-like color. If you’re more prepared than that, you can always just use fake blood!

-For more detailed, visual inspiration for all the costumes above you can look them up online or on Pinterest to get the full feel of what I’m explaining to you! Or, you could always go for the classics: vampire, decades (the 80s, 70s, 60s), cupid, the devil/angel duo, schoolgirl, purge, the list goes on. Halloween is just about having fun, being safe, and the best excuse to eat your favorite candy. It’s always nice to have a cool, unique costume and to look great, but don’t feel like you need to drop a good chunk of change on a costume when you can recreate one with the items in your closet! If you feel great and are having fun, that’s really all that matters (and the candy, duh). Of course, there are more creative costumes you could create with the items you already own, but these are some of the easiest ones I could think of for all of you that are scrambling for one at the last minute. Happy Halloween, everyone!
