A Big Night for TV: Grammy and Bachelor Wedding Recap

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

On Sunday the 26th, it was one of the biggest nights so far for the TV world with the 56th Annual Grammy Awards and the On-Air wedding of The Bachelor couple Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici.

The Grammys:

The Grammys gave some shocking and amazing moments last night. Obviously the first and most important was the performance by power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z, “Drunk in Love”, IT WAS HOT HOT HOT!

Beyonce dazzled in a Michael Costello lace and floral, backless dress on the red carpet at the Grammys and rocked her see through body suit during the performance with her husband.

My personal favorite acceptance speech of the night was none other than Jay-Z, when he won a Grammy for Best rap/sung collaboration for Holy Grail, his acceptance speech included letting Blue Ivy know that her Daddy got her a new gold sippy cup.

Another amazing performance was Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert & Madonna, “Same Love“, not only is it an amazing and powerful song and performance but also around thirty couples exchanged rings and got married during the performance. Everything about the performance was great, except when Madonna came out in an all white tuxedo with a white cowboy hat and a cane, maybe it was just me but I was just extremely confused.

Katy Perry brought out a dark horse and pole danced on a witches broom while singing her “Dark Horse” with Juicy J and T. Swift brought head banging to a whole new extreme while playing her piano for her anti- Jake Gyllenhaal song “All Too Well”. She did look gorgeous while doing so, in her Alberta Ferretti gown, which was her second dress at the night.

Lorde, who won for Best pop solo performance, performed her winning song “Royal”, and well it was interesting. She didn’t sound her best but she definitely knows how to hand dance.

The Record and the Album of the year both went to Daft Punk, their album “Random Access Memories” and their record “Get Lucky” ft. Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers shot them to the top bringing home 5 Grammys total on Sunday.

The Bachelor Wedding Special

First comes The Bachelor and then the wedding! Sean Lowe and Catherine Guidici’s got married on a live TV special on ABC on Jauary 26th. The couple met on the reality show and got engaged in Thailand in November of 2012 on the season finale of the show. This televised wedding brought in more television viewers than past Bachelorette wedding of Ashley Herbert and J.P. Rosenbaum in 2012.

Sean and Catherine exchanged vows at the Four Seasons Resort, The Biltmore Santa Barbara on Sunday night. The bride stunned, wearing a custom Monique Lhuillier gown. Sean’s father, Jay, officiated the ceremony and called the couple’s romance “an epic fairy tale on display for the whole world to see” , which indeed it was.

Guests included past Bachelor starts Daniella McBride, Trista and Ryan Sutter, Jef Holm, JP Rosenbaum and Ashley Herbert. The couple’s first dance as man and wife was to Randy Rogers’ “One Woman.” Wishing the happy new couple a lifetime of happiness!
