Who doesn’t love Durham, right? The beautiful scenery no matter the season, the fun hustle and bustle of UNH students and professors and of course, the places to eat! Whether you’re looking for breakfast or dinner, a quick lunch, snack or drink or even take-out or delivery, Durham is chock full of plenty of delicious restaurants and quick-eats to satisfy anyone’s cravings. (And almost everywhere to eat in Durham is right in the heart of UNH).

 

Breakfast

Early (or late) start to your morning? Whether you’re looking for the perfect healthy treat or a much needed greasy brunch on the weekend Durham has just what you need.

Young’s

Location: 48 Main St

Parents here for the weekend? Or more importantly, are you really craving a full plate of eggs benedict, hashbrowns, and maybe some bacon too? Head over to Young’s right on Main Street and find the perfect breakfast restaurant for anyone! With their many choices of omeletes, french toast & pancakes and of course breakfast sandwiches your pre-Sunday nap will go quite well with a full stomach of Young’s breakfast. Little later in the day? Don’t worry there’s lunch too! Young’s is open 7 days a week and not to mention recommended by the University of New Hampshire Parents Association.

P.S. try the “Wildcat” and I know you won’t be disappointed. 

The UNH Dairy Bar

Location: 3 Depot Rd (Near the train tracks)

Whatever you feel like eating I’m sure the UNH Dairy Bar has it for you. Soups, salads, a lot of signature sandwhiches, breakfast, and the best part… ice cream. Popular to not only UNH students, but professors, families, and children the UNH Dairy Bar takes yummy to a healthy level with many, many options. Stop in if you just pulled onto campus, catching the next Amtrak or if you’re just feeling like you need a good, wholesome meal. 

The Works

Location: 5A Mill Road Plaza (Hannaford & RiteAid Plaza)

Open everyday from 6 am – 6 pm The Works not only serves breakfast all day, but they offer coffee, smoothies, artisan sandwiches, paninis, wraps, fresh salads, soups and delicious just-baked treats! The options are limitless with bagels, breakfast sandwhiches, tasty coffee, hearty soups and whether you want it to go or to sit down and enjoy your meal inside or out The Works is perfect for a breakfast or afternoon meal!

 

Franz’s

Location: 46 Main St

Known for their famous “JB” wrap Franz’s Food offers just what you need for a call-ahead quick and easy breakfast fix. Feeling like fries or a hot dog? Also your perfect choice. 

The JB consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, cheddar cheese, and ketchup all wrapped into a flour tortilla. Now if that doesn’t make you want to get one (or two) on your stroll down Main Street then it may just bring you in for something else. 

 

The Juicery

Location: 30 Main St

What’s more refreshing than a smoothie filled with all your favorite fruits and/or greens! Add in some almond milk and you’ve got a delicious smoothie that’s the perfect way to start your day. But don’t limit yourself to the morning, anything from the juicery is the perfect pick me up throughout your busy day. Not to mention they have perfectly crafted acai bowls too! Newly added to Main Street, The Juicery will give you nutrients and flavor to rejuvinate your day!

 

 

Lunch/Dinner

Everyone loves a good meal, especially if they don’t have to cook it. Durham is home to many restaurants that offer inexpensive, real meals. Whether you feel like sipping on a milkshake and chomping on a burger in Lexie’s, enjoying the bar and grill atmosphere of Libby’s or grabbing your sushi and chinese food to-go from Mei Wei the opportunities go on and on.

Lexie’s 

Location: 10 Jenkins Ct

Just brought to Durham last year, Lexie’s was a hit the second it opened. With it’s cute diner atmosphere, inexpensive delicious burgers and who can forget the fries, Lexie’s is the perfect place to grab your perfect milkshake, burger and fry meal. Build your own burger or choose from the many delicious options and treat yourself! 

P.S. Don’t forget the fried pickles.

Libby’s Bar & Grill

Location: 47 Main St

Really in the mood for a sit down meal? If you’re on a date, maybe the family is in town or you just want a great cobb salad or a pulled pork sandwich Libby’s will fill you up, not to mention right next to the dining room is the bar. Go for the game, for a drink with your friends and get your dollar’s worth at the family and friend loved Libby’s Bar & Grill!

Tacomano

Location: 38 Main St

Feeling spicy? Chipotle too far? Try Tacomano and get all your burrito needs. Whether its a burrito, a bowl, or maybe some tacos Tacomano has whatever you’d like made just how you order. Fast and easy you build your own Mexican street food. Don’t forget a quesadilla if you’re feeling really cheesy!

Bella’s Casual Dining

Location: 5 Mill Rd (Hannaford & RiteAid Plaza)

Bella’s Casual Dining is perfect for anyone’s Italian dinner needs. From alfredo to raviolis to eggplant parmigiana you’ll feel right at home with this amazing comfort food. Don’t worry, if that’s not what you’re up to during your visit they have plenty of other options. Sandwhiches, fresh salads and yummy appetizers fill the menu and make bring out your indecisiveness. 

Mei Wei

Location: 7 Mill Rd (Hannaford & RiteAid Plaza)

Now who doesn’t love some delicious Chinese take-out on a night in, or maybe a lovely sit down with a few rolls of sushi? Mei Wei has both Chinese food and Japanese sushi and not mention a fun atmosphere. Pair all this with a fruity cocktail and you’re having a great experience!

Plus! Can’t forget the daily lunch buffet.

Subway

Location: 72 Main St 

We all know and love Subway. When looking for a quick bite to eat, or not really sure what you want and would like to just throw together a delicious sandwich with fresh ingredients and pair it with a drink and chips for a low price Subway is your best bet. Hungry? Get a 12 inch. With the healthiest menu around and not to mention a very delicious one too, Subway is a familiarity to most and a never let-down. And don’t forget to finish it off with one of their warm, gooey cookies.

Pizza … & More!

There’s one thing everyone loves, hot or cold, toppings or just cheese, one slice or four and that is… pizza. Now what’s even better than pizza? Maybe a side of fries, onion rings or mozzarella sticks? While your friend may want pizza you may want a calzone, or a nice ravioli dinner. Durham has not only famous pizza places that everyone knows but pizza places that don’t just stop at the magnificent, cheesy slices. 

Durham House of Pizza (DHOP)

Location: 42 Main St

Just want a slice? Or a whole box, or even more? DHOP is your place to go. The best part of the beloved Durham House of Pizza are it’s convienent weekend hours. Open till 2 AM Thursday, Friday and Saturday DHOP is ready to take your order. Hey, we all know we get those late night cravings. And not to mention, best prices in town. Just 2 bucks for a large slice of pizza!

Dominos 

Location: 7 Mill Rd (Hannaford & RiteAid Plaza)

Papa John’s

Location: 10 Pettee Brook Ln

We all know our beloved pizza places Dominos & Papa John’s can be found almost anywhere no matter where you live. So, isn’t it nice to have some familiarity? Don’t limit your order to just pizza though! Both locations offer cheesy bread, cinnamon sticks and various pasta or chicken wing dinners. So call up for a fast delivery, or walk on in. 

Wildcat Pizza

Location: 3 Madbury Rd

Don’t be fooled, Wildcat Pizza is definitely not just pizza. While their pizza is heaven in a box, some may say whatever type of dinner or lunch you want is right at your fingertips. Pasta and ravioli dinners, burgers, dinner plates, salads, sides like mozzarella sticks, onion rings, buffalo wings and more, stuffed calzones, subs, wraps, drinks and snacks are the various meals you could be ordering. With easy ordering online or ordering over the phone, deliciousness is waiting for you at Wildcat Pizza. 

 

Village Pizza

Location: 45 Main St

Much like Wildcat Pizza, Village Pizza does not limit it’s options. Right in the center of it all in downtown Durham Village has an extensive menu with not only pizza but subs, appetizers, Italian dinners, and all that you can imagine. Check out their menu and call for delivery or pick up. You will be satisfied with their great and fast service. Big plus!! They have daily specials, meal plans and offer catering services.
