This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

There is nothing like New York City in the peak of the holiday spirit. Magically after Thanksgiving and the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade, the city transforms into a winter wonderland.  Below you will find the ultimate guide to the can’t miss attractions that the Christmas season in New York has to offer.

1. Rockefeller Center and the Tree

The sight of the almost 100-foot-tall tree is absolutely mesmerizing once you step foot into the hustle and bustle of the Rockefeller Center. There is nothing like sipping hot chocolate and watching the ice skaters on the rink below and admiring the spectacular lights and decorations. Maybe if you are lucky enough, you will be in the city at just the right time that you could whiteness the tree lighting party held every year with musicians and celebrities!

2. Macys

Macys is decked to the nines in Christmas trees and holiday décor. It is very popular for its Santa Land and the embrace in the classic Christmas movie, Miracle on 34th Street.

3. Bryant Park

One of the best places to go ice skating during the holiday season. With Christmas music playing in the speakers, a brightly lit Christmas tree and hundreds of shops, this park has something enjoyable to offer for all ages.

4. Central Park

Take a walk in the biggest park you will find right smack in the middle of the busy city and find yourself coming across one of the best Christmas markets ever!

5. The Plaza

While you are in Central Park, take the time to step into the most famous New York City Hotel, the Plaza. The décor is breathtaking and they are hosting an event for Home Alone 2 this upcoming Christmas.

6. Lincoln Center or Radio City Music Hall

If you have the time you should definitely check out the holiday themed shows that these two halls have to offer. Watch the exquisite New York City ballet perform The Nutcracker or the famous Rockettes dance in the Christmas Spectacular Show.

7. Window Displays

The 6 best window displays are Saks Off Fifth Ave, Barneys New York, Lord and Taylor and Macys Herald Square. They are all beautiful, enjoyable, and free. What more could you ask for!
