6 Iconic Halloween Celeb Costumes Done by Celebs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Every college gal’s favorite holiday seems to be quickly sneaking up on us. Whether you’re festive or not, Halloween is led by a stressful month of planning, anticipation, and endless second-guessing. What are you going to be? Better yet, who are you going to be? The beauty of Halloween is that you are given the creative freedom to be whoever you want (to an extent) for one night, or a weekend, however you may decide to celebrate. Still wondering what or who you should be? The media inspires us all, which is why it may be helpful to see what some mainstream celebrities have done in the past years. Between these seven iconic looks, you may find some spooky (maybe not) inspiration.

1. Cindy Crawford as Marilyn Monroe, 1996

Not only is Cindy Crawford an icon herself, but Marilyn? She rocked it. Talk about timeless beauty.

2. Kylie Jenner as Christina Aguilera, 2016

If you’re somewhat like me, and secretly live and breathe for the Kardashian/Jenner’s every move, this low-key gave you life. (Especially if you’re a fan of the voice, don’t deny it). Kylie perfected this look from Christina’s Dirrty music video, and it can easily be duplicated.

3. Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Blue Ivy as Black Barbies, 2016

Once again, the Knowles-Carter family does it and does it well. Not only did they represent POC and America’s favorite dolls, but they looked gorgeous while doing it.

4. Heidi Klum as Jessica Rabbit, 2015

I believe it’s easy to say that Heidi shook the world when she stepped out as this iconic Loony Tunes figure. She got it down to a T: from the eye makeup to the purple gloves, and all the way to that dress slit.

5. Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady as Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion, 2013

New England’s favorite couple strikes again in this adorable pair’s costume. Who doesn’t love a good Wizard of Oz theme?

6. Beyoncé and Blue Ivy as Janet and Michael Jackson, 2014

Yes, pop culture’s most worthy mother and daughter pairing appears once more. However, this time as one of the greatest pair of siblings: Michael and Janet. This wouldn’t be a list of iconic celebrities doing iconic things if Beyoncé wasn’t in it.

The actions of celebrities in the media inspire us all, and that can be a good or bad thing. However, when it comes to choosing a Halloween costume, it only makes things easier. That is, if you can decide between Janet and Michael vs. Dorothy and the Lion. Or will you go solo and rock Marilyn? Or maybe you’ll stay in because choosing who you’ll be Halloween of 2017 will bother you until Thanksgiving.
