5 Women Wearing the Same Dress Wow’s Audiences – UNH Mask & Dagger

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNH chapter.

Didn’t get a chance to see Mask & Dagger’s performance of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress this weekend because of the storm? We have you covered here at Her Campus!

Every year Mask & Dagger, UNH’s Dramatic Society, puts on different plays and musicals – directed by students, for students. Just this past week, Mask & Dagger put on a performance of “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” in the PCAC’s Hennessy Theater. The play is comparable to Bridesmaids – just imagine it every hating the Bride, rather than hating each other.  The play was well done by all participating, and provided all sorts of emotion for the audience to experience. Director of “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress”, Elizabeth Girard is a Junior Acting Major who has put a lot of her time into the Mask & Dagger program and it shows that her experience and time has given her the ability to direct a fantastic play for UNH students.

The whole premise of the play, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, is that these five women are all in a bridal party for a woman named, Tracy. The five women are, Frances, Meredith, Trisha, Georgeanne, and Mindy. Frances, who was played by Junior Kayleigh Kane, is a conservative-religious 21 year old, who is Tracy’s cousin. Frances makes sure to let the girls know she is a “Christian” a multitude of times throughout the production. The next character the audience was introduced to was Meredith, who was played by Sophomore Kayla Doig. Meredith, who is the sister of the bride, is a very jealous and troubled character. Throughout the whole play, the audience learns more and more about Meredith’s troubled past.

Thirdly, the audience is introduced to Trisha, played by sophomore Tori Skoniecki, who is a childhood friend of Tracy. Trisha is somewhat of the mother figure for them all – and someone who all the girls go to for advice. She is seen somewhat as the go to girl for the group through out the entire production. She seems to have the most life experience is and is someone they all feel comfortable with, regardless of how well they know her. Then, Georgeanne, played by senior Brooke Riley Snow, is brought to the audience. Georgeanne is a sad, married woman who is unhappy and unfaithful in her own life. She copes with this in different ways, and also does provide some humor to the group throughout the entire day. Lastly, Mindy, who is played by senior Katie Juster, is the sister in-law of the bride. She is a lesbian, and is often the voice of reason and comic relief through out the entire production. Lastly, the audience meets Tripp, who played by sophomore, Trevor Gatcomb, is the boy next door meets bad ass guy who captures the crowds heart as he is a charming fella amongst a lot of catty women in this play.

Overall, all show was well performed by all. It was clear that a lot of hard work was put in by the whole cast and crew, and it is heavily appreciated amongst the students here at UNH. Mask & Dagger did a great job at bringing a different, and entertaining show to UNH for the students, by the students. It is always refreshing to see students do something so positive, with the sheer purpose of performing it for others students, as well as do something they love. Great job to Mask & Dagger, and I personally can’t wait to see what you have for UNH next!

Great job to the cast and crew of Five Women Wearing the Same Dress! Make sure to follow and like Mask and Dagger on Twitter and Facebook for more updates on their next show!
