Are you wondering if Greek life is right for you? Even if you’re not sure if going through recruitment is something you want to do, I encourage you to give it a try because even though I’ve only been a member of the Greek community here for a year I can tell you it was the best decision I’ve made here at UNH.

1. Meet New People

As a freshman or even a sophomore, making new friends can be hard to do. Even just going through the recruitment process you will meet some amazing people and find friends with similar interests. Everyone is nervous at first and that’s totally okay! You will find that recruitment really breaks you out of your comfort zone and even if you don’t end up thinking Greek Life is right for you, you will learn so much about yourself and the people you meet.

2. Make Connections

The people you meet will change your life. I was able to get a job here on campus through a sister and I’ve met so many alumni that I could potentially work for one day. You don’t realize it right away but being a part of something so big can help you out in plenty of ways. Whether it be looking for jobs or just looking for someone to talk to about something, you can guarantee someone will always be there.

3. Get Better Grades

It’s required. You can’t be a part of something like Greek life without the grades and it makes you want to work that much harder! It also helps when you have 150 people you can contact when you’re struggling with a class. If you have a difficult major or are stuck on a problem you can bet that with one phone call you’ll get the help you need. With people to motivate you all the time it’s hard to not get good grades and in the end, it’s worth the work you put in.

4. 24/7 Support System

If you’re not having a good day, feeling sad, or something serious goes on in your life you will never be alone. There’s always someone to vent to and people will always listen to what you have to say. The advice you get and the lessons you learn through spending so much time together is unexplainable and truly unforgettable. The bonds you create are everlasting.

5. Community Service

Doing something nice for somebody else never feels wrong and in Greek Life here at UNH you get the opportunity to work hand in hand with some incredible people. Make A Wish Foundation, Autism Speaks, Domestic Violence Awareness, Prevent Child Abuse America, or the Alpha Phi Foundation are some of many organizations here on campus you can contribute to. You will be making a difference in the lives of people who really need it.

The Greek community here at UNH is awesome and we all encourage you to GO GREEK this fall! Find a place that you can call your second home and meet the people who will change your life for the better. Sihn up using the link below!
