If you’ve done any shopping in the Korean beauty market, you’ve probably seen some crazy ingredients. Whether it’s bee venom or placenta, you need to be brave to add these products to your cart. I never thought I would use snail secretion on my face when I began my journey into the world of skincare but here I am. Not only am I using it, but I’m loving it!

I was skeptical when I read the ingredients and realized this product is literally 92% secretion but I decided to step out of my comfort zone since I had been dying to try anything from CosRX. Luckily, this was the right decision because I have found a new favorite that will likely become a staple in my collection.
I’ll start with the most interesting part, the texture. It feels exactly how you would expect snail mucin to feel: GOOEY. Once applied to the skin, the gooiness disappears and it glides on like a gel or water cream. I really enjoy the finish on the skin as well. It leaves the skin looking smooth and fresh. It is a perfect daytime moisturizer for my combo-dry skin, but not quite enough hydration for nighttime use.
You may be wondering, why would anyone use this in the first place? The answer is in the composition. Snail mucin is comprised of hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and peptides. This trio can help to hydrate, smooth, and increase collagen production in the skin. It has also been found to have anti-aging properties (The Cut). The ingredients in the CosRX cream that don’t come from snails include adenosine which is great for anti-aging and allantoin which soothes the skin.
