Shannon Nolan, a study abroad student from Australia, is enjoying every second that he’s spending in America at UNCW. His friends describe him as a “twerk” queen, fun and outgoing. Read on to find out about the (arguably) most adventurous Australian on campus this semester!
HC: What’s your idea of a perfect date?
SN: Having dinner at a nice place over looking the water, followed by going to a few bars for a few drinks afterwards.
HC: What’s your favorite thing about UNCW so far?
SN: The campus is extremely pretty and the people here are overwhelmingly nice. I don’t want to leave!
HC: What’s been your most awkward moment in America so far?
SN: In Australia we call flip flops ‘thongs’. My most awkward moment was when I walked into a store and asked for some thongs for myself. The woman stared at me for a moment before walking to the women’s lingerie section.
HC: Male celebrity crush?
SN: Dan Bilzerian. He’s such a boss.
HC: If you could marry one person, dead or alive, real or imaginary, who would it be?
SN: Definitely Jessica Alba. She has been the one for so many years now.
HC: Any hobbies?
SN: Surfing, snowboarding, rugby, skateboarding and running.
HC: What’s your favorite quote?
SN: “Failure is not falling down, but refusing to get up.”
HC: What’s your favorite thing about the United States so far?
SN: I’ve said it earlier, but it’s honestly my favorite part about America. People here are just incredibly nice and I’ve met so many great people. Never have I ever met so many people willing to help with absolutely anything!
HC: If you were a Disney Princess, who would you be and why?
SN: I would be Ariel. When I was a kid I always used to watch The Little Mermaid with my little sister because it was her favorite show, so I guess it’s grown on me. Also, swimming underwater would be pretty awesome!
