Recap of NY Fashion Week 2015: How You Can Wear It

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UNCW chapter.

Okay, so for those of you who missed the Snap Chat stories and live-stream videos online, have no fear! This upcoming spring 2015 collection is amazing with styles ranging from denim to fringe. This fashion week had amazing designers from Michael Kors, Nicole Miller, Donna Karen, and Ralph Lauren. They all showed us their inspired looks that hit the runway on February 11th-19th. These designs are ones you don’t want to miss.

Now, I know as college students we may think it’s impossible to incorporate runway looks into our classroom wardrobe. But that’s wrong. It is easy to become inspired by the colors, styles, and trends that are playing out this spring season. Students worry about costs as well, but these looks can be found in department stores, like T.J. Max, and Marshall’s in ready-to-wear styles.

Michael Kors displays a military-inspired look using olive greens and solid white colors. You don’t need to wear a full on military jacket but adding some olive green color to your wardrobe can have you looking fashion forward.

Another popular style in this Spring Collection 2015 was two-piece ensembles. Whether they are formal dresses, pant suits, or casual summer wear, two- piece is the way to go. Even if you don’t want to show off that mid-drift there are very subdued ensembles that still have you looking fashionable without showing skin. You can find these suits online and can be perfect for a summer picnic or a day in the office. They range in style and that’s what makes them so great and versatile.

However, these are just two looks from the runway. Colors like creamsicle and pink quartz are trending this season. There are so many styles, designs, and outfits that will get you inspired for the upcoming season.  So don’t be afraid to get a little inspiration from the runway and be sure to tune into fashion week in other locations globally! Stay fashionable and always be true to your style.

My advice: get inspired and have some fun! Don’t be afraid to be adventurous.
