Dear fellow graduates,

It’s finally that time. Graduation is right around the corner, and who knows if this is our last moment all together. We have made some wild memories together. Although some of them weren’t very smart, whenever I look back at the time we shared, I smile. They say college is where you meet your lifetime friends. If that’s true, then I am extremely lucky to have met all of you.

To the ones that I met when we first came here, look at what all we have done. We conqured some of our most primal years together, and I don’t know what I would have done without you fighting by my side. We’ve watched each other grow from the timid person we were our first year here, into the strong and invincible adults we are today. Most people don’t stay friends with the people they met during their first few months of college, but I am beyond lucky to say that I still have you on my team. No matter where we go after that afternoon in May, I am eternally grateful that I get to call you a lifelong friend.

To the ones that I met in my last year here, I know we haven’t had as much time together, but that doesn’t mean I think of you any less. You came into my life when I was probably the most stressed out and full of self-doubt. Applying to jobs and internships with the constant fear of rejection suspended over my head, you were always rooting for me. You were the one to ease my mind and push me to go after the things I feared most. Although I am still learning these amazing things about you to this day, you have never let me down. You are still my cheerleader, and I hope that you will stay in my life for years to come.

To the ones I lost somewhere in the mix, I miss you and still think of you. I know whenever we saw each other on campus, we always said we should meet up for coffee, and I’m sorry we never did. We had some extraordinary times together, and I wish we could have had more. Even though I have no idea what you are doing with your life, I want you to know that I hope you’re happy. I hope you get everything you ever wanted. We talked about some pretty crazy goals we both had, but I hope you get every single one of yours. Whenever I see you again, whether it be in a grocery store, at a friend’s wedding, or on my television screen, I hope you’re well and I want you to know that the coffee is on me.

Finally, to the one I am lucky to call my best friend, I love you. I don’t mean to be overly sappy, but I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I never met you. You were the one I could always turn to. After every break up, after every triumph, every drunken Cook-Out run, and every milestone we went through, you kept me laughing. Through every rock bottom I went through, you were the light that guided me to safety. It was easy for me to open up to you and tell you all of my deepest secrets. You are the one I would call at two in the morning to help me bury a body, and you wouldn’t even blink an eye or ask why. No matter what time of the day it was, we were constantly up for an adventure. You’re not my sidekick. You are my partner. You are my ally. You are my person. I am overjoyed and unbelievably fortunate that I got to know you. We made so many stories together, and I can’t wait to tell my future spouse and children about all of our wild shenanigans. I promise I will never lose you. I don’t care how many miles are between us, you’re stuck with me until the end. Not everyone is as lucky as us to call each of us their best friend, but you can bet I am. No matter where we go in life, no matter how many other friends we make, we will always come back to each other. Even if I can’t constantly be by your side, don’t ever think I’m not rooting for you.We were there for each other through the ups and downs, so I know that we can make it through anything.  Never stop believing in yourself. Never stop going the distance. You are the most talented and powerful person I know, and I believe that we will both go far in whatever we do. So if we don’t see each other for a while, I promise to pick right back up from where we left off.

To all of you, I am so happy that I know you. Like Winnie the Pooh said, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” I wish you all best and good luck in whatever you do!

Love,

Me
