Finals week is almost among us, and that means all-nighters, study sessions, and lots of caffeine to get through it all. If you are anything like the average college student, you most likely have a million projects and finals to study for. Although studying and academics are important, so is your health and well-being. De-stressing is an important aspect of success- I mean, you aren’t a machine. You need to rest and reward yourself for all the hard work you are putting into your classes. Here are some ways you can de-stress during finals week to ensure you are relaxed and rejuvenated every day.

1. Watch a funny movie

Studying isn’t the most fun thing in the world, and can sometimes really bring you down. Know you are not alone and will get through it. Watching a funny movie is the perfect solution-it can help you to relax and have a couple laughs. Being happy and releasing endorphins will make studying much easier if you are in a good mood to do so. So grab some popcorn and a couple of friends to watch your favorite movie/show.

2. Listen to your favorite music

Listening to music has been proven to boost your mood quickly. Turn on your favorite tunes and have a mini-dance party. Even though studying and learning material can be serious in order to succeed, sometimes being silly and not taking yourself seriously can lighten your mood.

3. Clean

Sometimes taking a small break to clean and tidy your space can help you relax. I hate when my room is a mess when I’m trying to study- I just can’t focus! Try spending 15-20 minutes cleaning and taking your mind off of studying, it can really help refocus your thinking and get back into your study material more smoothly.

4. Workout

Sometimes all I need to feel relaxed is getting in a good workout. Going to the gym can help alleviate stressors from school. Go with a friend to your gym’s Pilate class, or simply go on a run and get your blood flowing- it will make you feel like a new person! Working out can make you feel accomplished and motivated to get back to studying for finals.

5. Take a power-nap

I am one to nap after a long day’s work. If you have been studying for hours on end, take a small power-nap to help you relax and rejuvenate. Most people cannot focus if they are even the slightest sleepy, and that’s not efficient during finals week. Take a few minutes for yourself to step away from your work and catch some Zs.

Whatever your circumstances are, I wish you good luck during finals- you are gonna kill it! Remember to be nice to yourself and relax every once in a while. I hope these tips were helpful!
